Crimping Furutech FP203R spades
Use TC. For less than the cost of a crimper it will sound better even if you use ordinary pliers. Heck you could whack it with a hammer and do better as long as you get some TC in there.
Should people with no turntable or reel to reel be considered audiophiles?
Porschephiles drive 911's and Caymans. We tolerate the other stuff only because it gives Porsche the money to survive and make our cars. I wouldn't be caught dead driving a Panamera or one of the SUVs.At last a subject worthy of discussion! Porsch...
Is darkness a sin?
Replace your lame Dark Knight remote with Super Remote, the Man of Steal. Are you lit? I am. Seriously though I have had many remotes over my career but the only one I use now is the $20 remote from Costco that turns the lights on and off. Its not...
Sub Not Waking Up
Check if they turn on and off manually. If they do not turn on automatically check for trigger voltage. The turn on signal is nothing but a constant voltage so use a volt ohm meter to check for that. Does not matter what it is, if there is any vol...
Visited a new Audiogon friend today. Elliott Newcomb
Color me jealous. Haven't done that a lot but every time I do visit someone like that it always amazes me how many different ways there are to achieve quality music, especially where turntables are involved.

What Mike said. A Porschephile is defined by an appreciation for the marque, and not by which model he happens to drive. I really like the recent trend in working Porsche into the threads. There may be hope for this site yet.
My wife says yes Help what to upgrade next?
I was going to say thisYou should mention what about your system you would like to improve on... what do you like about the system. What would you like to improve.. bass response, accuracy, depth, soundstage... vocals, higs anything... But then I ...
Integrated amplifier sound
Forget power reserve, tech talk like that is useless. With 90dB speakers you only need 20 watts, it just has to be the right 20 watts. Unfortunately the one I know is more than twice your budget. The Rogue sounds like a good choice to get you wher...
Cable management is the cheapest upgrade you can make!
You don't say.... https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/8367
Replacing everything - Speaker Recommendation Request - Under $3,000. With music....
headphones? No way that’s too sensible. I’m thinking replace the monitors with a big screen projector and a Stewart Filmscreen StudioTek 130 G4 Projection Screen.
Magico M9 The new 'norm' in speakers
It won't matter how they sound. Its like THX- it starts at the high end, then with glossy ads filters down market, until one day you can't sell a speaker without the Kenjit Society ® Seal of Approval.
My room has "zero" slap echo. Do I need room treatments?
most walls are 8" by 8" logsNo one else seems to have caught this. Logs are curved, in other words your entire wall is essentially a diffuser panel. Sound hits the curves and is scattered. That’s why you hear no slap echo. This is however a bit mis...
Male to male XLR question
I am shocked, shocked, at the patriarchal oppression of these poor defenseless cables being forced into heteronormative binary categories of male and female gender without even once considering the cables own gender preference. Someone call the PC...
Measuring line noise and power conditioners
People think this is something we understand well enough to even begin to measure. Why? The answer can only be: because you haven't even tried listening. Soon as you do, all this nonsense about measuring noise goes right out the window. To even as...
Mark Levinson Amplifiers
Yes I've heard em. ML is hard to beat in terms of analytical dry and seemingly technically accurate sound. Very highly regarded in certain circles, though exactly why has always eluded me. If you really want more power, dynamics and bottom end how...
