Music format for bringing to audition/demo
I haven't felt the need to bring anything in years. If you have something you feel the need to hear in order to be able to evaluate, then bring what you feel you need. Why would you bring what someone else thinks they need?
SoundSmith cartridges how good?
Love these first hand Soundsmith reviews. But every time I get my mind made up it must be the SG then I read about the magical Hyperion midrange and, arrgh! Good thing I'm not quite ready yet.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
I like this thread. But whenever something is on my turntable tonight I am in there listening to it. By the time I get done it's time to go to bed. By the time I can post it's no longer tonight. Last night was, uh let me think, oh yeah Super Hot S...
Isolation for Granite Surface Plate
You're welcome but to be honest you don't get the benefits unless you follow the advice. The MDF idea you seem to like is so far down the list of things that work I never even mentioned it. Tried it, crap, moved on. If you don't want the best I ge...
Now I am in a Delimma
Since you like that sound get Tekton, Double Impact or Moab. You will find at least as much thrilling live dynamics, but not in your face. Instead the sound stage will range from up close to quite deep, depending on the recording. Much more effort...
Townshend Audio Podiums: The Full Review
A 2x4 is too thick to slide under the Podium. So I lay it down on edge and cut a bevel on one end, bringing the 2" thick end down to only about 1/4". This will now slide under the Podium, with the bevel angle matching the angle of the lever. The 2...
members and their systems
Does anyone remember the 80’s when great equipment was at a price anyone could afford. Does anyone remember the 60's, before the rampant inflation of the 70's that led to the high prices of the 80's? lol! My first stereo was bought with newspaper...
Isolation for Granite Surface Plate
You can do a lot better! I've used different things on top of my 4" thick granite machinists plate and the best by far is Townshend Pods. They look good too, and adjust beautifully for leveling. https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lisa8492-townshend...

+1 Clair de Lune, the sooner they hear Styx the better! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sZ749y2dZU
Where to locate Equipment?
The best location for a component rack is in front of the house by the curb. Be sure to use Craig's List or it may be there a while.
Why would anyone want class AB amp when class A always sounds better ?
Yes but take away blanket assumptions and there goes 80% of site content. Take away pure unsubstantiated blather and there'd be like three of us left all reading each other.
Game Changing Tweak
If I showed you what all is in my system, what it looks like and how it works, you would think it is pure BS. Then when you hear it probably your mind will be unable to make the connection that such seemingly impossible contraptions really are the...
New Herron VTPH 2A versus used Audio Research Reference 2 Phono
I had the PH3SE for close to 20 years. Bought new, a terrific phono stage. Never really felt the need to upgrade. Ran it with a Benz Glider, then a Ruby. Wonderful sound.  Everything else in my system got a lot better and after a while when I star...
Audio Companies with Integrity??
Maybe I've just been lucky, but all I've done business with the last several years have been like that. Keith Herron at Herron Audio graciously answered all kinds of questions and made me feel like way more than just another customer. I am certain...
Amplifier knobs...where to "set" on the clock?
That's good solid professional advice you got there. The only thing better is this documentary, a few years old but still the gold standard in terms of explaining the importance of where those dials point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xgx4k83zzc
