Primaluna?
Auto-bias and protective features are mostly there for marketing. More and more people are coming around to the superiority of tubes. But tubes carry the stigma of unreliability, even though as you can see from the comments here they can be just a...
Wilson Benesch-Great or just Okay?
The ones that sound great. The complete list is here:                 .
Wilson Benesch-Great or just Okay?
Point of order? I believe it is Wilson-Benesch not Wilson Benesch-great. The answer is it should be Wilson-Benesch Just Okay. Please note just okay rhymes with meh. I’m a poet. Didn’t know it. Don’t buy this gear. Happy New Year.
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
Most amplifiers go to 10. So when they're playing and they need a little extra, where do they go? Nowhere. That's why ours go to 11.   If this doesn't clear it up for you remember the immortal words of Bruce Dickenson:
Musings of a Budget Audiophile
More than a few of us know the value of fine tuning what you have, by which we include not only fine tuning speaker placement and cable routing but things called tweaks like vibration control and acoustics. Dangerous, because you can improve resol...
Turntable Rumble/Feedback
I had almost this exact same thing, only my rack is a lot more massive so mine wasn't as severe. But same exact thing. Right down to Nobsound under the turntable.  Problem is different things isolate at different frequencies, and Nobsound are not...
Townshend Pods - How many do I actually need per component for max effectiveness?
I've got Pods under just about everything now. Before that was all springs. Before that was all BDR. Before that was a lot of different things. Each transition involved trying the different things under different components. All kinds of combinati...
Raven Audio and Beyond...
The Raven will be a huge, massive upgrade to what you have now, with virtually no downsides. It will be plenty of power, not enough to party loud or blast yourself out of the room, but with that caveat still definitely plenty of power, not at all ...
Clearaudio Concept Satisfy Carbon - Setup Help
Shim won't do any good. All it will do is raise the head shell higher. This then requires raising the arm to get back to where the arm is parallel, and you are right back to where you are now. The way cuing should work, when fully raised the styl...
Synergistic ECTs
I have a bunch of em and have tried them all over the place. One time watching a movie I moved one from the turntable motor to where the HDMI came out of the laptop. Immediately my wife says, "What did you do!?!?!"  Improved contrast and color sa...
Wilson Benesch-Great or just Okay?
Wilson-Benesch speakers are stunning. Okay, wait. Wilson-Benesch are speakers?! I thought it was Tom Hanks' soccer ball?
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
Au contrere mon frere I have not the slightest idea what you’re talking about. That chart by the way, says right on the graph that is the Harman audio test system. This is the system they use to test their customers. If you think this is flat eno...
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
Um yeah. Your system should measure flat to within .01dB or it will be unlistenable. EQ does not alter sound except to make it perfect. I am totally serial.🙄 Is that the eye-roll? I can never figure out which one is the eye-roll.
Efficient speaker: Zu, Tekton, Volti, Klipsch, Fleetwood?
I went back through this thread. Three of the negative Tekton comments had to do with their efficiency not being as high as advertised, with Stereophile test confirming. As far as I can tell, only two of the negative posters actually listened to ...
Where should the vocal image be?
ozzy62, Please point out where I "alluded". Or is this "allusion" an illusion of your delusion?
