Three cheers for Keith Herron
Yes, indeed. If his other electronics are anything like his phono stage they are really something. Keith is a pleasure on the phone and I am sure even better in person. Nice story. Thanks for sharing.
Need help placing a second subwoofer.
10" is not lame, you just need more of them. https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/8367  The thing with subs, placement with the first one is time consuming and ultimately impossible. Because being only one, then no matter where it goes you get gre...
I knew I shouldn’t have thrown my Electrical Engineering text book in the campus pond!
ezstreams-I talked to the tech support guys at RME about cable and power supplies. In regards to my question about using an LPS, they wrote “Thanks for choosing the ADI-2 DAC FS! RME does not recommend changing the power supply. The unit is design...
DIY cables question
To make a good solder joint first the parts to be joined must be absolutely clean to shiny bare metal. Then crimped or joined together mechanically to the point the connection is secure and done. Finally, heat with the iron from one side until hea...
Turntable isolation platform Recommendations?
And a special thanks to Millercarbon on the record clamp. I did end up machining my own record clamp. With washer and threaded spindle. Latest improvement, TA-102 tape. The thick one. Cut one piece round with a hole in it to slide over the spind...
Center channel
Did she find dialog unintelligible before you went multi-channel?
Diminishing returns?
Save you the trouble: you can never get the best out of anything. No matter what you do, something can always be better. Any speaker however good or bad you will hear improvement with a better amp. Any amp, however good or bad, same thing. Includi...
Maggies with a subwoofer system - optimization?
That's what I was thinking. The cap/inductor thing I mean. ;)  Bear in mind the whole signal will be going through that, and quality caps that size are big money. Cheap caps? The whole point is improved midrange. No way you're getting that with ch...
Townshend Maximum Supertweeters
Thank you for the compliment. That is my specialty, and my pleasure, ever since having my eyes opened to a lot of crazy things myself. So nice to know it is appreciated, and you are very welcome. How important the range is, I would guess depends a...
Power cord choice?
Music is all transients. There are always current peaks like that. That's why for example amps use slow blow fuses. All the stuff you are doing, you are gonna be shocked how good your system will sound.
So how much do you think the placebo effect impacts our listening preferences?
Take two placebo and call me in the morning.
EXTRA! EXTRA!! Millercarbon Proven Wrong!!! Read all about it! EXTRA! EXTRA!!
He knows that. He's just slinging his usual insulting innuendo. Which is funny. He clearly wants nothing more than to insult and demean and harm. If he would leave it alone the thread would go away and accomplish his goal. But every time he posts ...
Maggies with a subwoofer system - optimization?
Short answers- no, it will not lengthen the life of the panels, and yes you are wasting your time.  A much better way to get the improvements you want is a combination of vibration control using Townshend Pods under the speakers and subs, and acou...
Turntable isolation platform Recommendations?
That table is close to 30lbs. I would try Pods first. That is an expensive table but those cone footers, you could actually put one Pod under each one. It will probably be better however to bypass the whole thing and put the Pods directly under th...
Why does a dent to a tweeter not affect sound quality?
Why does a dent to a tweeter not affect sound quality? You see this statement all the time, when someone is selling an affected piece of used equipment. I’ve never understood it. Can somebody explain? Not only tweeters, all dynamic drivers. You ca...
