Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range?
@deep_333 - Thanks! I also found GR and I am seriously looking into ordering pair of bullies. They indeed look like the ticket. I spoke to Danny as well wrt my search.  @goose - Yeah, I wanted to drive down since they had Revel Studio 2 for sale,...
Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range?
@ditusa - it says "performance of horns can be achieved", not that the speaker employs (or sounds like) horns. In that sense Revel (or few others) are "horns" because they use tweeter inside a waveguide... :-) After all, I own them and they don't...
Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range?
@mm1tt77 - Looking at Revel Salon 2, it sounds nice actually, but I have concern with 86 Db sensitivity while my amp is technically 30W Class A (although Accuphase does spec 60 and even 120 W to 2 Ohms, I guess class AB). F328Be appears to be 91 D...

@ditusa Tannoy D700 are concentrics, not horns to any extent.
Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range?
@helomech - It seems like there is love/hate with Legacy, some people really, really love them. I am not particularly keep on Legacy simply b/c of the size and weight. I am not into moving them and there is no one to help me if I decide to reposit...
Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range?
@ditusa - JBL seems to be a horn or waveguide like they use in concerts?
Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range?
@gdnrbob I am in Seattle and to some definition it is a major city. And yet there is very little so listen to. Some list many brands on their web sites but do not actually have anything in stock. Some distributors (such US one for ProAc) shows the...
Help me understand the current amp market
I’d say there is fair amount of "free riders" - make fancy box, put few Asian parts inside and I give you 100% - someone will hear improvement to their sample music. C’mon, there are amps with huge distortions built on 50 years old tech but people...
why expensive streamers
@invalid technically true, but it is like AM-FM. Both transmit analog but FM is more advanced that AM. Digital is ultimately beams of light in a fiber or modulated currents in a twisted pair or coax cable, or radio waves of a satellite link. but i...
why expensive streamers
@8th-note I am with you buddy. A decent streamer (say, $2-3K) is fine, after all, that is what decent custom PC costs - nice box. no fans, screen - it all costs company to make. $20K? No, thanks.
why expensive streamers
@grislybutter - me too since people claim to hear difference. I am open minded. However, I am also a former software engineer and have masters in math, singnal processing.... I can imagine that low end streamer may have weak CPU (like low power A...
why expensive streamers
@8th-note - CD won't necessarily be better. CD transports also have jitter and CD reading may be unreliable. In fact, I think FLAC stream is way more bit-perfect, than a Red Book CD data retrieval. Better comparison would be playback of the same ...
why expensive streamers
@nigeltheflash - but then adding DDC synchronized with DAC clock should be eliminating differences between streamers since it fixes USB issues. Converting packets to stream is not proprietary software, it the same Linux network stack everywhere. I...
why expensive streamers
@mashif - the article is about DA conversion. Jitter is not an issue in networks like Internet.
why expensive streamers
@jeffreyw - But of course :-)
