Which of my components has the better built in DAC? There is no 'the best' DAC. There different chips and different output filters. Thus they all sound different. Pick the one you like. ESS chips tend to be brighter, AKM softer sounding, R2R - depends on manufacturer. Use USB.
Home network router question @rbstehno - Wired is certainly better, but sometimes it is not achievable. I think if their WiFi can handle, say, Netflix to the point, it will be fine with audio.
Home network router question @deep_333 No, they are not. This just shows you know little about even the modulation. Which is not voltage at all, btw. People moved on from AM days. TOSLINK is a laughable comparison to Ethernet. Which is completely different and does not lose a...
Home network router question Remember that the entire Internet consist of cheap equipment.
Ac cable length choice to make with conditioner Your new couches will most probably affect the sound more :-) Did you audition them?
???What's The LEAST Expensive "End Game"Amplifier You've Ever Heard??? Anything from Nelson Pass or BAT.
DAC connection to computer USB. No one yet explained any physical concepts of "bad sounding" PC. You can use reclock/DDC if you are really concerned with "noise" coming from the PC.
Physical degradation of CD's @asctim - any computer drive still reads and writes CDs. As do BD players.
Physical degradation of CD's Physical CD degradation does happen, but media should last 100 years+. If you are concerned, you can always rip into file then burn another copy. Or just play the file.
Does old-fashioned necessarily mean out of date? It depends if you are talking vintage, old design but new parts or new design. Vintage eventually will need parts replaced, esp caps. "Old" design still manufactured with new parts, it is not like they use caps or resistors from 60s.
Home network router question Always ask yourself question why would this help or improve?
A brief review of GR Research Bully @deep_333 - this is exactly where bullies shine. Variable volume, phase, cut frequency AND parametric EQ on top.
A brief review of GR Research Bully @p05129 - somewhat true :-) Except it is also possible with Dirac (my HT system has full size speakers (Tannoy D700), no sub and has good bass at normal volumes. BUT - I tried to add Dirac capable EQ (MiniDSP SHD) into digital chain (before the DA...
Schiit Loki Max? @dwest1023 - I am still evaluating. Obviously, when controls are active. I don't hear difference when everything is at zero or when bypass is on. I will give it some time. As I said, there is value anyway, I'd rather have poor recording corrected ...
No bass on B&W 800D2 My take is the room. Could be amp if it does not provide enough current for a demanding speaker. Cables - no. They may change sound a bit, but they can't fix lack of response. I'd check impedance curve - how easy are speakers to drive? Do they dip... |
