Basis bearing lube - Debut and Ovation
I recently sent my Debut bearing to A.J. for servicing. It is 10+ years old.He took it apart, applied a micro-hone technique, updated the thrust configuration and sent it back for not too much money. He also checked over the platter concentricity wh...
Can the Harbeth 40.1's boggie ?????
-What do you mean by boogie??Do you want club sound? There is an EQ setting on the iPod that does this.I don't want bloat, myself.ATC's active can be EQ'd anyway you like it. They take an analog signal, convert it into the digital domain, and then...

How does the drum kit sound on your rig?
-It doesn't have to sound real to sound good.Even if the sound is compressed, it can still hit with a BANG!If the sound can't go BANG then much is missing. To say that drums are easy to reproduce is wrong. To me they are the essence of good playbac...
How does the drum kit sound on your rig?
-I like to feel the kick drum in my chest -lots, and to have the cymbals splash -but not too much. The dynamic swings (transients) are key to getting a good sound and if the system can't manage that then there is a flubby attack and a muddled space...
Have you treated your listening space?
-I agree, I agree, I agree.Did I say that I AGREE?How can you be taken seriously if you obsess over your electronics and ignore the room?It can be done in a way that is tasteful, but it still has to be done. You can't ignore the PHYSICS of it.I rep...
Have you treated your listening space?
-Check ATS Acoustics for inexpensive panels and Sweetwater for bass traps.-
Have you treated your listening space?
-That's the really funny thing.Room treatment costs less than a couple of cable upgrades!I got some pretty expensive draperies (my wife likes them too), some bass traps and 2" and 4" wall panels that look ok for under two thousand dollars. How muc...
Great films where music is a central theme.
-Sorry, I didn't read that this is a post of movies about music. The central two above apply as well as:"Sonata for Viola" a documentary about Shostakovich(excellent!)-

Have you treated your listening space?
-Thanks for your posts.Buconero has it right. Many keep spending and spending on equipment and never address the room.I had a bare room for years and always figured top equipment was the ticket. I'd spend hrs. listening for differences in cables, ...
"The Heat Pipes are coming"... The Heat Pipes are
-I had a thought on these Heat Pipes. What they are doing is acting as Helmholtz resonators? They could be creating a sharply tuned suck out. That would be audible and could be construed as an improvement in sound by someone, perhaps?Otherwise, I can...
Can the Harbeth 40.1's boggie ?????
-Hey, I got Garebear's speakers. Can you believe that?I drive them with an ARC Ref 110. Boy they do bogie - oops - boogie. I'm liking them a lot. Lots of articulate bass. They do bass better than my Vandersteen 5's.I do find room placement makes a...

Hi, my name is Mike.Painful as it is, I'm an audioholic!Cheers and tears...My last purchase was yesterday and I only sell equipment when my wife makes me.She says I have enough for two systems. Isn't that great?I guess only I think so.Now I'm into...
