Why are my woofers pumping? Get a test record with vertical and lateral resonance test tracks and see what happens.
What are the top 3 dream speakers you wanna buy next regardless of price? Oh and Cleeds, All subjective reviews are biased. If not by money and favor than by experience right or wrong. Specs are one thing, how something sounds is another far more complicated issue. Again I say you have to know what you want to hear and ...
What are the top 3 dream speakers you wanna buy next regardless of price? Hi Cleeds, JAs measurements are great until he gets to some newer electronics that are more accurate than his test equipment which he frequently admits too. His waterfall plots are great and tell you a lot about how a loudspeaker will react with a...
Why are my woofers pumping? Holter, The SME V is too light for the Lyra Atlas, a cartridge of intermediate compliance. I suspect you are seeing the woofer take off up between 15 and 20 Hz. Add one or two grams to the head shell and let us know what happens.
Benchmark AHB2 Amplifier, opinions and competition Very hard to do better. If it is not enough just get another one down the line. You will never need another amplifier.
What are the top 3 dream speakers you wanna buy next regardless of price? Just a note. Forget reviews. There is way too much bias involved. You have to know what you want to hear. Does removing anti-skating really improve sound? Larryi you are essentially correct except for one thing. It is the loudest passages you want to set the tonearm for as they are the hardest to track. We have a notoriously short audio memory and if we listen to a system that sounds "bad" long enough after a while it does not sound as bad....
Does removing anti-skating really improve sound? Trusting your ears and knowing what you like to listen to are two very different subjects. Distinguishing fine differences in sound is difficult for humans because our audio memory is so short. Not only this but because of our brains ability to ac...

Does removing anti-skating really improve sound? Oh, I forgot to add. You do not need a Fozgometer or an oscilloscope to do this right with modern cartridges. A good eye and the right tools can do this perfectly. Back in the day cartridges were all over the place. Cantilevers set in crooked, sty...
Does removing anti-skating really improve sound? Stringreen, the most important thing I have learned in this passionate hobby over the last 55 years is, Never Trust Your Ears. The problem with ears is that they are connected to a brain. Brains can accommodate to stimuli in amazing ways. Example....
Does removing anti-skating really improve sound? There are exactly two reasons why tonearms skate. The offset angle of the tonearm and friction of the stylus in the groove. The tonearm is being pulled towards the spindle leaving the stylus and cantilever behind forcing the cantilever's suspensio... |
