The Groove Probe, for optimizing and evaluating record cleaning systems Rex, I'm trying to be polite here. I think you have too much spare time on your hands. I think you should work on developing techniques to keep your records from getting dirty in the first place. I never have to clean any of my records. Mike
Synergistic Research Cable Risers? I will not buy the products of any company making cable supports. It is worse than insulting.

LP made from a digital master recording... Sandthemall, less of what? 8 tracks were certainly a huge success.
What are Your Favorite and Most hated Record Manufacturers rshak, Acoustic Sounds is Analog Productions. MC, Reference Recordings is still going strong and making great product but the others are sadly extinct. Yes John, Ryco is now owned by Warner which is more than likely the problem. I forgot about Sun...
Audiophile Bass? delka and baclagg a proper subwoofer system requires a cross over with both low pass and high pass filters. They can then be tailored to match perfectly at the 6 dB down point that sounds best. 1/2 the advantage of subwoofers is taking the bass aw...
Doubting Sound Treatment ? No doubt at all but there is no rocket science here and like anything audiophile a lot of this stuff is severely over priced. A clever DIYer can accomplish exactly the same thing for a fraction of the price.
Speaker recommendations 10 to 30k and no beryllium Larry, The Sound Labs Ultimate 545's are not that large at all. Yes the 845s are huge but the 545's are quite reasonable and the sound very much like the big ones just not quite as efficient.
What are Your Favorite and Most hated Record Manufacturers Thanx for the optimism schubert. I am trying to make a list of the record companies that people have had good results with so that we can all have an idea whose products are more likely to be of a higher quality. There are plenty of small companie...
LP made from a digital master recording... ebm, never say never. It will come back to bite you. A good digital master is going to sound better than a bad analog one. What a recording sounds like is more a result of the way it was mastered than whether or not it was digital.
Audiophile Bass? fj, a properly set up system sounds great whatever it is playing. Like mc I have a large Stewart screen between my ESLs and my system doubles for theater use and does the job nicely even though I have no rear or center channels. And given the powe...

Should I buy a VPI SCOUTMASTER. I OWN 25 RECORDS. Jeff, unipivots particularly VPI's are garbage. You can read any number of threads about guys having to replace pivots. This type of design is just a cheap easy way to make an arm. You don't have to worry about tolerances or expensive precision be...
Linear tracking turntables, whatever happened? If you want to know why linear trackers are a bad idea just watch the cantilever closely while playing a record. The cantilever will deflect towards the spindle and eventually the tonearm follows, overshoots a little deflecting the cantilever away... |
