Jolida JD100. How good is it?
Muralman1: Thanks for the response. You have to go up the ladder to 9/20/03 to see my comment about Sylvania Gold brand gray plate tubes, Joe's comments on AA is partially what made me decide to get these tubes. I have read some of your other post...
Jolida JD100. How good is it?
You're referring to me, I have the Sylvania gold/gray plates. I have not tried the black plates (because I cannot find them) but I have heard both good and "not so good" things regarding the gray. I have a hard time believing Sylvania Gold with bl...
Jolida JD100. How good is it?
Thanks for the feedback on the gray vs. black plates. I searched the closed auctions on Ebay for "Sylvania gold 5751" and it generated a source. I e-mailed him and asked him if he had more, I bought a matched set. Anyone have any experience with a...
Jolida JD100. How good is it?
I know I'm joining in late to this thread. I bought a new JD-100 from VeraStarr 4 months ago with a mini mod and couldn't be happier. Great advice from these guys, break in is easily 100 hours. Muralman1, I agree, the Sylvania black plates are har...
Pass labs x250 vs Classe CA301
I can't comment about Classe, but I just upgraded from a Krell amp to Pass x-250 after much research and couldn't be happier. During my search, I called Pass a couple of times to ask questions and it was like I was talking to a neighbor! One of th...
Best female vocals on CD
You have to check out track #15 "Simple Gifts" sung by Alison Krauss on Yo Yo Ma's CD entitled "Classic Yo-Yo". Awesome!
Connecting CD directly to Poweramp
I agree with Listener57. I have had a pair of EVS attenuators on my amp for a single source (cdp) for several months and I am thrilled with the performance. Very well made, Ric is a super guy who will take the time to talk to you about what may be...
Benefits of tube sound with SS amp with tube cdp?
Eagle, thanks very much for the trial and the feedback. These interactive threads are the way this site prospers. Info, debate and discussion motivate people to try new things. Ultimately, Audiogon hopes we try new things by purchasing the new or ...
I'm so confused....
Your dilema is very very sililar to mine (check my past threads) I was about to purchase a NAD 541i, then I read about the virtues of the Philips 963sa and was about to buy one, then I read about the Jolida JD100. At one point I was very confused....
Benefits of tube sound with SS amp with tube cdp?
First of all, thanks for the feedback guys. I have a lot to learn and demo before I get the sound I want, I have a couple of follow ups:Eagle: I went to the Granite audio site and read about your cdp, looks interesting. I have already read about t...
what this site needs ...
I'd like to be able to sort by "component type/manufacturer/price"... something like: "ss amp/Pass Labs/$3000". Or search for a component below a price point... like "all ss amps below $3000". Also I'd like to see all closed auctions and sales for...
Philips 963 or NAD 541i
I realized I never did complete this thread. I decided to go with a Jolida JD100 tube cdp in place of either the Philips or NAD. After further discussions here and elsewhere, it was the right call for me. Ultimately, after much discussion and audi...
Philips 963 or NAD 541i
www.tweakaudio.com will tell you all about them. They run $350 a pair and are used as a volume control for a source run directly into your amp, thus eliminating your preamp & cables. Being relatively new to hi end stuff, I'm not decided on a p...
Paradigm Monitor or Studio?
I auditioned both the studio 20s and the 40s before I decided on the 40s. In my 2 chanel system the 40s sounded much fuller in soundstage. Don't get me wrong... the 20s were very nice as well, but the 40s fit the bill for me. I found the 40s sound...
What's your profession? Age?
I just turned 40 this month. I'm a plant manager for a large manufacturing company and I just discovered Audiogon about a year ago. My 2 channel system retails for $11k, but Audiogon made it possible for about $7k.
