Streamers - Cambridge Audio CXN (V2) or Blue Node 2i Thanks for your input...... could you elaborate a bit on "the greater selection of free internet stations on the bluesound." ?? The CXN and the Azur have different processors so I'm not sure that's apples to apples.. regardless I'm sure both a...
Streaming.... Net Radio to Stereo System OP Here.... so far looking around I see the Blue Node 2i, the Cambridge Audio CXN (V2) and the Marantz NA6006 as possibilities... anyone have any direct head to head experience with them?? Must be able to return anything tried that doesn’t pass mu...
can someone answer me this..... If your pre takes a 6DJ8 / 6922 tube(s) you have limited alternatives. The used tube market for vintage NOS Siemens 6922's, especially Cca and grey plates is like looking for unobtainium. I've been using them for about 15 years, after testing ma...
Your favorite Electrostatic, Panel spkr What seems like forever ago but is probably 25+ years ago I auditioned both a pair of Acoustat 2200 and Acoustat 1100 speakers. The Audio Plus shop advised that if the room wasn't humongous the 1100s would be more focused due to the single panel ...
Does anyone use wood for vibration control? No wood here. I use sorbathane feet, spikes, lead weights and such.
Doing the Power Cord Thing I tried several different power cords in an audition process. Did not hear any difference despite hearing large changes in various interconnects and speaker wires in the system. Since you have no control over the miles of transmission lines, the l...
Is it common for tubes to outweigh the cost of the amp or preamp? 20 years ago I could buy NOS (real new old stock) Siemens & Halske Cca 6922's grey plates for $40 each. Bought a dozen for back stock and wound up selling 4 of them for $800 a year later and then 2 more for $500. Now, any of them that moves...
***Is It Me Or Have Todays Modern Tubes Gotten REALLY REALLY Good*** That does not match my experience with an Audio Research LS2B MKII Pre. First owner here and about 25 years old. I've auditioned newer stuff from time to time but it sends them packing. Came from AR with a 6DJ8... tried bunches of them from Bug...
When do you turn off the tubes? My pre (ARC Classic) sounds at it's best with tubes that have become almost unobtainium. There are no NOS Siemens & Halske 6922 Cca Grey Plates left in this world as far as I'm concerned. .. except maybe the couple hiding in my closet. Not l...
How do you move HEAVY speakers with sharp spikes without lifting? Rent an aluminum hand truck from Home Depot or Lowes. Slide bottom under, tilt back and roll.
Best Speaker cable in the $400.00-$500.00 range for 2 meters A used pair of Straightwire Maestro on eBay.
Best tube dampers that you have used I use the Pearl Tube Coolers with a bit of a modification. I solder a wire to them which I run to chassis ground. Not only do they drop tube crown temp 10 to 15 degrees they eliminate any RF interference via the grounding and provide damping.
Newbie needs help on Audio Research and DynAudio Quality Had an LS22 in my room to compare to my LS2BMKII (stock 25 year old) preamp. The LS 22 went back, not even close.
AUDIO PRICE INSANITY PRICE VS. PERFORMANCE WORTH IT? Much to be said for this post I think.... " Myself, I collect and use the best vintage gear from the Golden Age of High End - 1965 - 85! That was when the most innovative (and affordable!) stuff was made! Since then prices have only risen for N...
Question for tube aficionados I have a near 25 year old Audio Research pre-amp that came new tubed with Chinese 6DJ8. I liked the sound quite a bit and decided after a few years to experiment with tubes. Holland, Bugle Boys, Amperex and so on came and went. ..many different ... |
