10" self powered sub-woofers.....
@m-db   Thanks for the reply.  I have the "Ode to Billy Joe" on the MFSL SACD and that was among the songs I used in the evaluation of various digital cables in the streaming section of my system vs the CD/SACD playback side.  If memory serves me ...
10" self powered sub-woofers.....
@ doctors11I guess this count be a 4 - 5 month report card on the ML.  Final install was with the 90 degree RCAs from Audioquest and a 9' run of Blue Jeans Cables LC-1.  Will consider changing the LC-1 to Straighwire Encore if a nice used 9' pair ...
Advice on a streamer
The CXNv2 will allow music on USB as well as music sent via bluetooth.
To Stream or Not to Stream
I have a library of about 700 CDs.  Maybe 5 are not available between Qobuzz and Tidal not to mention thousands of internet radio stations, many CD quality, some even better.  The exposure to new music from streaming radio stations and the ability...
How are most audiophiles going from streamers to DACS
I connect a Cambridge CXNv2 streamer to a Benchmark DAC 3b via RCA digital coax.  I've tried about ten different digital cables and they all sound quite different from each other.  Buying one "quality" cable and being satisfied only works in a sys...
CD Quality Versus Streaming Quality
The issue with the comparisons is that they are rarely apples to apples. Is your CD original issue, 10 years ago, 30 years ago? Was the CD an original transfer? AAD? ADD? Is the streaming service offering you a digital copy of the original? the fi...
Best Sounding Speaker Cables?
I read the responses to make sure I wasn't going to duplicate any ones thoughts and had something new to offer.  Every piece of wire will sound different in every high resolution system before we get to individual subject evaluation and personal t...
Listening to digital and analog
@jjss49   ...    digital cable matching to your components so important.  If folks haven't cable rolled extensively in their system maybe not even exorbitant priced analogue.  Just my 2 cents... I've heard some pretty crappy expensive analogue sys...
Listening to digital and analog
I'm forever amused by those who spend a couple hundred bucks on a streamer and then run it through a dozen year old processor and post their $80,000 (or way more) analogue setup is way superior to it.  Digital runs from the wall out....  plug, AC ...
Best dac under $2500 - comparing build quality and technologies
Did my research up to January of this year and decided the latest Benchmark DAC 3b or Mytek Brooklyn would be the right choice for me. Took a 30 day trial on the Benchmark (Stereophile Class A+) and kept it. It is fed by a Cambridge CXNv2 streamer...
Vinyl...should I stay, or should I go?
@elliottbnewcombjr   me thinks vinyl always sounds better at your house because your vinyl gear is far superior to your much older digital stuff.
Does Steely Dan sound bright to you?
My roughly 30 year old original CDs do not sound unnaturally bright....  nor do the streaming versions on Tidal Hi-Fi.  On Qobuzz they and many other recordings seem somewhat bright,  etched or hard....  especially when dealing with remasters of r...
Single vs. Dual Subs
Recently blew a sub in the living room where I run a two sub system for video.  Decided to move the matching sub from my listening room there and replace the listening room sub with something newer.  New Martin Logan 800 X (10" sub) to augment the...
Old Amps that can still Kick Butt
I have a matched pair of Sumo Andromeda II a’s running balanced from and Audio Research pre-amp driving a similarly aged pair of Acoustat 100 hybrid electrostatics that have great slam as well as finesse. MOSFETS and Acoustats are a match made in ...
Deja Vu all over again
I recently compared 4 versions of the same recording.  It's Larry Young's "Zoltan" on his Unity album.....  Qobuzz 24 bit  192 khz,  vs  Tidal's 24 bit remast which plays in 44 khz 16 bit FLAC and their standard version  which plays at the same re...
