MMF 5 or 7?
I agree with the above. I had a 5 and upgraded to the 7, there's a large difference, well worth the extras bucks to me.Good Luck!
What was your first system, & did you like it?
I loved my first system. I bought most of it in 1978-1979. I had a Yamaha CA600 integrated amp; Yamaha T-550 tuner, Pioneer HPM-40 speakers and a Pioneer turntable which I can't remember the model of. Guess what, I still have them all and all they...
Amp for VA Beethovens?
You don't mention your budget but here's a couple of suggestions: I have the Beethovens but will be selling them soon as I move up the food chain, so these are from personal experience. At the rather expensive range, a MAC MC2102 was the best foll...
Where is my weakest link?
How was the bass before you moved and what where the room dimensions?
I would like advice for a beginner.
I use a Yamaha RX596 to power outdoor speakers and a pair of inwalls in the living room. I can tell you that whatever speakers you choose, make sure they are very efficient. Although the Yamaha is rated at 150 WPC, it's not a high current design a...
Wife is remodeling - spkr cable recommendation pls
Since you'll be going in wall, I suggest you stay with CL4 (or is it CL3) rated wire. Check out the Kimber in wall at Audio Advisor. IMHO, you don't need top of the line cables for HT rear surround duty. Good Luck! Mike.
Speaker suggestions to go with MAC gear please
Hi all again, you've given me even more to think about. While I certainly love the VA Beethovens it's a case of is the grass greener on the other side? I wouldn't replace them without being sure it would be a big step up. It does look like I'll hav...
Speaker suggestions to go with MAC gear please
Hi all and thanks for the great suggestions. There is a Tannoy and B&W dealer fairly close to me so I truck up there and see if I can audition a few models. The only problem is that they don't carry MAC gear so it won't really be the same. I l...
Tube Pre Amp + Tube Phono Section
Armin, you really need to say what your budget is and what other components you'll be using them with. With ARc and CJ gear, there's alot to pick from but it'll all come down to how much you want to spend.Mike.
Preamp input needed
I think that if you're looking at the ARC line up, you can do better than the LS25 and LS16 for a little less money. Do a search on the ARC LS5 Mk III. The LS 5 Mk III's only competition in the ARC line-up is the REF 1 and 2. If you're not looking...
Which artists do you just not get?
Marilyn Manson - I just don't get it, too old I guess.Mike
How can i hook this up???
Not sure if this will help but I have an AVM2. Doesn't the AVM20 have a setting called "direct" that essentially bypasses that pre and sends the signal through. Wouldn't that bypass the AVM and send the signal directly through to the AES assuming ...
Pre-Amp Recommendation
We have some similiar equipment. I would recommend that you go for just a few bucks more and look for an ARC LS5MkIII. It's ARC's best next to the Ref 1 and Ref 2. It has great medrange magic and is much better than the LS25 which sounds more clin...
Help w/ tuner in Classik , CRCD vs. FT101A please
Thanks all who responded. Neubilder, I sincerely appreciate your input, it's exactly what I was looking for. I was originally thinking of the Classe CRCD because there seems to be great deals when you can find them, but with them discontinuing the...
Help with an ARC LS5 MK III
Hi Marlin, Since I first posted the question, I've since changed the original tubes.I think part of the problem was that the original Sovtek were old and on the way out. I've replaced the tubes with NOS Amperex 7308 and they just changed everythin...
