Jazz Recommendations
I don't have anything to add to the incredible and huge list already mentioned here in terms of recordings. There is a book that I've read awhile back, however, that has helped me understand and enjoy jazz immensely and it might be worthwhile for ...
PS Audio Power Pant vs Shunyata Hydra conditioner
I noticed that while wearing my power pants, the hydra conditioner produces a much blacker background, with tight bass and killer mids and highs to die for.
Feedback/Ideas for New Magazine?
Your e-zine sounds like a great idea, and it seems like you will gain a niche market. From a business standpoint, why not take advertisements from non-audio gear companies to avoid conflicts of interest? I understand that non-audio businesses migh...
Cheap tweaks...What would YOU reccomend?
I'm curious as to whether anyone else has tried this. I recently opened up my BAT vk-d5 cdp and placed a Mapleshade small heavy hat directly on top of the transport. There's enough clearance for the small hat to sit there to allow you to put the c...
What is the best Beatle Song
I second "Strawberry Fields"
Cable Suggestions for my system?
I've recently tried out the Ridge Street Gen II cables. I found them to have a smooth and extended high without glare or hint of harshness. I would give them a shot, or ask Robert about his new Poiema series and see if they would be a better fit. ...
Your ONE all time favorite love song?
Wow, it's really hard to narrow it down to just one song. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned, but I'll have to go with Al Green's "Let's stay together".
Review: Ridge Street Audio Midnight Silver Edition GEN. II Interconnect
Hi,I'm currently using the Gen.II XLR. I don't want to reiterate what Lak has already mentioned, but my findings are very similar. On my system the cables really came into being after three days or so. The mids and highs are smooth, and the bass i...
Power Conditioning? What About Tripp Lite??
I'm with Listener57 on the Mapleshade double helix plus power strip. I couldn't believe how good my system sounds after the unit broke in after 100 hours or so. It's relatively cheap and the look is nothing to write home about, but it works great....
Music for "Tough Times"
Great threat, glad to know some of us are on the same boat in this sometimes stormy and churning sea of human emotions. I think he's been mentioned, but I would second Louis Armstrong's recordings. He sings and plays with such honesty, trength, an...
Review: World Power Receptacle Cryoed Hubbell 5362 Tweak
Following the advice on this site, I have recently ordered and installed a cryoed Hubbell 5362. My findings are very similar to the great review posted here. The most noticeable improvement in my system is the bass and drum. They have much more pr...
Holy Grail of Audio Systems
Just out of curiosity because my folklore is rusty, did Lancelot or Perceval, or whoever, ever found the holy grail? If not, case in point I guess. It would be quite boring if you've found it, won't it?
What is your favorite low-tech tweek?
Just a quick question regarding separating wires. Is it necessary to separate pc and ic from one another? Not ic from pc, but ic/ic, pc/pc. I try to keep all wires separate, but find that pc running close to one another is unavoidable.
How much does your system retail for?
Around 30K. Boy, money flies when you're having fun. I will stop this madness rightnow, uhm.., that's right after I get the Hydra line conditioning thingy.
Which artists do you just not get?
Opera, country, angst-ridden music. I listen to music for enjoyment, not to hear someone whine, cry, moan and groan about everything in life. That's probably why I like a lot of instrumental, rock or jazz; they spare me of the miseries.
