New Network Acoustics Tempus switch
@fastfreight  I’m curious - If the SwitchX is creating a separate network, are you then using a separate device like an iPad only connected to that network for control of the system? Or, are you switching to that network when you want to listen? ...
Auralic Vega G2.1 vs Lumin T3
Rumour has it that Aurender will be Roon certified “soon”. Not sure if that’s true but others posting here are.  I actually think your budget offers you the options you’re considering. And, each - Innuos, Lumin and Auralic will likely offer you a...
Auralic Vega G2.1 vs Lumin T3
@mitch2  Good questions.  I’ve not heard the Rose so i can’t comment on this relative newcomer (I think?).  They look nice but I’ve no idea of the actual sonic performance. I’ve heard the Innuos Pulsar and Lumin U2 and do think you should add th...
Auralic Vega G2.1 vs Lumin T3
@mitch2  The Auralic units do interface with Roon very well. The difference in sound quality between Roon and Lightning link is also experienced by other ecosystems (Inneos, Lumin, etc.).   I believe it’s more an issue that proprietary operating...
Linn or T+A
You pose an interesting question - one I share.  I own T+A gear and am just now upgrading to the reference HV integrated amp. I had their R series integrated and it was very good. But, I needed (wanted) a bit more.  I’ve heard their reference DAC ...
Help settle a streaming argument!
If you read my previous post, I address why a bit perfect file can sound different. You are correct that bits are bits, but not correct that noise is not a factor. Sound quality can vary among streamers. It is measurable.  It is audible. Many peo...
Help settle a streaming argument!
@rgottschalk  Or, perhaps your Roon bridge and Intel Nuc is just fine and that your related hardware is helping things along.  Of course, it can be difficult to compare because it takes time to connect different devices so A/B is hard. But it co...
Help settle a streaming argument!
@david_ten +1 @mteetank - not at all. Engineers are not designing the streamer to provide a certain coloration, but are trying to design the colorations out. Digital data is read as a 1 or a 0. But how is a DAC to understand a 1 or a 0 when the ...
Help settle a streaming argument!
@polkalover  He/she did answer the question. A better streamer into the same DAC yielded noticeably better results for them. Many of us here have experienced similar results. I upgraded my streamer going into the same DAC and noticed a more sign...
Solved my streaming grunge (inner detail) problem
Interesting. I’ve wondered about this in the past, but haven’t experimented. So, while I believe my system is sounding very good and not experiencing issues - when I get back home, I’ll move things around to see if it changes things. It’s the only...
Testing Ethernet switch
@koh_i_noor  More knowledge is nowhere near complete knowledge. That said - I actually do understand how quite well how Ethernet works. I also  understand digital transmission quite well in general. Unfortunately, I do not understand why an upg...
Testing Ethernet switch
Not flat out impossible. You stated earlier in this thread “that (noise) should be handled by the client”.  Ideally yes. In practice? Perhaps no. I have offered more evidence of the possibility of why things sound different than you have offered...
Testing Ethernet switch
@tvrgeek  Well, since you couldn’t resist, here we go again. Not knowing exactly what something is does not mean it is irrelevant. You continue to dismiss extraneous signal which is being measured (and heard by some of us). This is not an extrao...
Testing Ethernet switch
I have been quiet on this thread or a while as it devolved.  I am going to step back in gently to point out to @tvrgeek that I did point you to proof that other things are carried along. Hans Beekhuyzen measured it. You dismissed it as irrelevant....
Auralic Vega G2.1 vs Lumin T3
Even the stock cables they provide outperformed an expensive USB cable I started with - at least for me. I’ve used both wireworld and audio quest cables to very good effect. Thunderbird, Firebird and Dragons work very well and aren’t too expensive...
