Is AT&T a Good digital cable connection ?
Every piece of literature I've read says that the coaxial connection is better sonically than the fiber optic. Sorry, I don't remember the reasons. My Madrigal manuals recommend (best to worst): xlr, bnc coaxial, rca coaxial, glass. High end stuff...
My experience with using a DVD as a transport
Just a side note: I unsoldered the line cord from my Pioneer Elite projection TV and soldered a female IEC connector right onto the circuit board at that location and added a good power cord. I could see the difference. If I had a component I want...
help with HT setup?
I think you should get a pre/proc with DTS. The sound is noticably better, not to mention some truly outstanding DTS High Definition CDs available.I would ditch the two channel preamp. You would involve additional cables and switching to keep it. ...
Progressive Scan? Need Advice
Of course it will work, but you won't see any difference unless your monitor is HD capable (and MUST have Component Outputs [3 rca fittings, r,b,g]).The DV-37 is a great unit, but there are many caveots about how well progressive scan is implemnte...
Can a DVD player be used as cd transport?
They work fine. Obviously the cheaper players have really cheap DACs so its beneficial to use the dvd player just as a transport. They both have the same playing features.
Pass Aleph 1.2s.... Anyone familiar
I replaced my ML#331 with an Aleph 4 (100w/ch). I love the sound of the Aleph. It is so natural and detailed. I tried both back and forth before selling the Levinson. I use the Aleph to power a pair of Revel Studios (3 way with 2 woofers) and its ...
Fixed a hum, still have a question
leave it...... nothing will happen ... at least it hasn't to me in several years.
Foil strip CD tweaks...A mystery
Well, I read a couple of the articles at PWB web site and am not impressed. It seems that they are concentrating on the psychology of listening and perception. When ms Clark said that she heard the difference in a CD after it was frozen but could ...
Foil strip CD tweaks...A mystery
I have not heard of this...... where is the website?
Oh, crap.
I had exactly the same problem with some custom clothing I bought one summer and by December called Citibank. They took care of everything and refunded my money including interest over the 6 months (at their userous rate!). I ussume they charged t...
CATV Groundloop, toBeat a Dead Horse and the Shack
Keis,I have DirectTV and still got hum from the cable (from the sat dish) connected to my system. A simple wire grounding the sheath (outside connector)of the cable works perfectly.
fiber optic digital output.
Yes you can. No it doesn't disconnect the internal Dacs. You can A-B them (both outputs working) ....... I did and never used my internal dacs again. Any decent quality outboard dacs will probably yield much more detail and ambience.
Optical or Coax digital ouput from DVD to Receiver
All sources say that the coaxial connection is better (less jitter, more accurate). Assuming that your cd changer will only be playing non-encoded disks (DTS or hdcd) and is of lesser quality than your dvd player, I would use strategy A above. Don...
CATV Groundloop, toBeat a Dead Horse and the Shack
I just ran a wire from the outside of the catv coax connector(with an alligator clip) to the ground on my power supply (or back to the ground on your AC socket) where everything is plugged in. You can buy (from Radio Snack) a "catv grounding block...
