Is nickel any good 4 speaker cable or power cords?
Didn't the heating wires in toasters used to be cupronickel, an alloy of copper and nickel? They might be good in colder climates.
wall mount hiden speaker suggestions
I'd suggest one pair of wireless headphones.
Best Monitor speaker - low volume level listening
I concur with the SR 17's, but if you have a small space, I have had good results with the SR 12's as well.
I have a confession to make
I fully agree with your wife, Scott, record cleaning devices are vastly overpriced. Other items may be too, but its real obvious with the cleaning machines.
What are the Do's & Donts on Hi Fi components
Do experiment with speaker placement. When you get close to hearing your speakers disappear into a soundstage, and with your rig they should, don't make large adjustments. Do check out other cables and power cords when given the chance, the right ...
The obsession, the trees. The music, the forest.
Is someone who requires a higher standard, and has gained the skill to achieve it necessarily uptight? I hear "uptight" as, possibly, an excuse made by one who is unsure of his ability to wring the best from his gear and wishes to divert attention...

And the Synergistic Research cable makes a very positive difference!
Speakers for small room?
Silverline SR 11's would be very nice in a small room, as would Sonus Faber Signum's. Keep the stands for either 24" or less for best results.
Difference between NAD 2400PE & 2400 THX
I'm not sure about the THX, but the PE stood for "power envelope." The NAD's in this series had 6db headroom, or in other terms, pretty high current for a given watts into 8 Ohms rating.
Need help with acoustic treatment for brightness.
One thing you might try is changing the angle of your speakers and, if they're monitors, the height too. Some say as a rule of thumb that it is preferable to have a slight upward tilt with the tweeter at a height just below your ears at listening ...
REL Setup
I have a Q100, and agree with Elevick, and would add try aiming the sub down one wall or another, and experiment with the distance the Katans are from the wall. With some SF Signums, I got my best match with them only 11" from the back wall, it ju...

Are Sub-woofers really for music?
Consider that a subwoofer gives you a whole 'nother chance to custom tailor the sound of your system to the realities of your taste, aural sensitivity and listening environment. If your room likes to eat lower frequencies, like mine does, you may ...
is a subwoofer for music a good idea??
It's not just about reproducing the specific low fequency instrumental sounds. It's also about energizing the room. A good sub, especially if you are using monitor speakers, will allow your music to float in the air, it will make the whole experie...
How many audiophiles bi wire their speakers????
I find the sound of bi-wiring is usually better than using a single wire of the same type. The only speaker in my experience for which this wasn't true was the Sonus Faber Concerto Home.Much of the benefit may be eliminating that base metal jumper...
