New system with periodic sound dropouts
Still experiencing drop outs so I've given up. I'm listening to CD's on my computer's DVD RW drive and they sound great! Once Google is up and running I'll do more testing with the ripped FLAC files on JRiver and Signalyst HQ. If that proves a fai...
Favorite Christmas Song & Album.
I have several "Favorite" Christmas songs but I'll pick "Carol of the Bells" by mostly anyone who sings (or plays) it. One highly unique rendition is by Wynham Marsalis, on the "Swing Into Christmas" CD. Love Faith Hill's "A Baby Changes Everythin...
New system with periodic sound dropouts
I would hardwire IF the modem/router box were in the same vicinity but it isn’t. It’s in the bedroom (closer to the home office) while my stereo equipment and computer are in the living room. Google Fiber comes Thursday, hopefully its signal is st...
New system with periodic sound dropouts
Great research, Al. My computer came with Windows 10 and has a 1 TB hard drive with 8 GB RAM . It defragments weekly so no problem there. I don't know which USB ports are 3.0 or 2.0. There are 6 USB ports on the back panel but the only things conn...
New system with periodic sound dropouts
Thanks for the advice, Erik.  I have no other USB devices connected and I've told the AV software not to scan any of my music files.  But am I correct in understanding that you're advising me to disconnect from my home network (so as not to be abl...
New system with periodic sound dropouts
My computer is a Dell Inspiron 3847 desktop connected wirelessly to AT&T’s network. The Microsoft Windows Update came through 9/30/2016. All music is stored on the internal hard drive.  Forgot to mention I also have a new 4 foot usb cable. Nev...
New system with periodic sound dropouts
To clarify a bit more, dropouts never happen when listening to the CDP.  They only occur when listening to music servers (JRiver Media Center or Signalyst HQ Player) on my less than 2 year old Windows 10 computer.
Favorite guitar players not named......
I've got a couple of Santana CD's but I really prefer acoustic guitar.  Are any of the above named guitarists acoustic players?  I've found solo guitarists but I'd really like to find some acoustic guitarists that play with other instrumentalists....
Stillpoints Ultra6 reference vibration controlers?
The Pre32 came yesterday. Today I got it connected between the DAC and A32 and finally understand the word "layering." I was missing a LOT. I never knew a preamp could make such a difference. While waiting for the Pre32 to arrive I'd connected the...

How much iPad memory is best, 16, 32, 64?
Stillpoints Ultra6 reference vibration controlers?
From what I read Lumin needs a wired ethernet connection and an iPad. I personally don't like anything made by "Apple."  Have they worked out the app for an Android yet? My direct ethernet connection is in a room more than 50 yards (46 meters) fro...

I read your message, did a little research, then came back and the response was gone. Sad situation.

Yes, I saw Lumin products on your facebook page. I’m confused. What’s the difference between the media library, a universal network player, a universal audiophile network player, a universal network renderer/streamer, and a universal network playe...

bo1972, you would never have seen anyone at a show carrying my DAC around because it weighs a few ounces less than 45 pounds (20 kg). Like I said earlier, I don't stream music. I've either replaced my vinyl albums with their CD counterpart or ripp...

Spend? None. Try to convince me that a network player is better than a $7000 standalone DAC.
