Ugliest Component of the Year 2024! Anything from Wilson Audio.
Borresen X3 measurements I think the Borrensen line of speakers deliver some of the most grating and unpleasant sound I've heard in a very long time. My ears hear these speakers and they are just sound incredibly harsh. I don't really care if they measure well or not, I c...
Reliability - what’s your experience been? Can only speak to the Bryston and Simaudio... both companies are stellar with repairs and service.
Wilson Watt 3/Puppy 2 Loudspeaker @lanx0003 For 3K providing the crossover inside them is still in great condition (but these are really old) they will still have a less than stellar upper range. (there is just no way these speakers will be 'bright') And please remember that th...
Wilson Watt 3/Puppy 2 Loudspeaker I wouldn't buy them. They will have great lows and quite a bit of punch but no high end articulation. Like other reviewers, I'm not dead yet and I owned a pair of fives, I would also say that a pair of 13 to $16,000 loudspeakers could easily out m...
McIntosh MC312 vs. ARC Reference 150 I fooled around with MacIntosh and ARC, once upon a time. It was expensive. I ended up dumping all my Macintosh for all brand new ARC equipment. Nowadays I have a mixture of ARC and solid state. I think the comments above are correct, Macintosh i...
Are REL the most Musical Subs? There is no boom in a REL sub because most of the RELs don’t go down far enough to create one. I always think of REL subs as woofers but not subwoofers. Saying this, I have owned many different subs, including 2 rel S812s, which I sold to buy two...
DCS Sending Legal Notice To Reviewer (Golden Sound) Over an Old Review of Their Bartok DAC I don't take sides on these things, but at the same time I'm wary of companies that try to shut people up, rogue employee or not. I will be in the market for a new doc within the next 5 years, and I'm not sure I would look at DCS now. But let's se...
Herbie Audio Lab - Tenderfoot +1 kingbr... I do the exact same thing and I also have herbies under ever piece of equipment I own
Holo May KTE vs. Lampizator Atlantic 3 TRP vs. Mola Mola Tambaqui Interesting... I too had the Mola Mola Tambaqui and the Holo May KTE to do an A/B (not the Lampizator though) and my findings were the same. I didn't so much try to pick out the details of the sound more than which sounded more luxurious to my ea...
What is the Current Guidance on Stereo and AV Configurations The center channel is the most important speaker in any surround sound setup. Yes you need one, the phantom center is a terrible idea.
Why do Wav and Flac Files Sound Different? They don't sound different they're the exact same file when uncompressed. The flacs used to take and still do, a bit more horsepower to decompress but nowadays any modern day computer will do the job properly.
PREAMPLIFIER UPGRADE QUESTION I've had both CJ and Bryston equipment. Both were excellent! Bryston has exceptional build quality and clarity/transparency of sound, CJ sounds warm). I would prick my preference from these. As for the suggestion of Boulder, I would pick Bry...
Aurender Now Roon Ready Way too late for this news. Already bought a Lumin, and will most likely upgrade to another Lumin in another half decade when the technology makes a difference in sound... Aurrender was way, way, way too slow to implement.
Measurement Bias Both are great, lets scientifically measure them and listen to them. You will end up picking a component that works best for you for any number of reasons. Your bias will be there regardless, for the numbers or for the brand, or for the price, or ... |
