An Introduction to new member Hi, and welcome from a retired member still in his infancy as I've been on this forum for just over a year. Ditto all Howard said.
DAC upgrade assistance needed Without knowing about your existing system, let me expand on my 1st response. I play Redbook CDs as AIFF via MAC mini using Pure Music. I owned a DL III with the M2Tech Hiface. Felt it to offer great sound for the $700 I had invested. I upgraded t...
DAC upgrade assistance needed The main limitation with the DL III for computer audio is the USB input. I would consider buying a quality USB to SPDIF converter first. I use a Audiophilleo 2 which is very good for the $$$. Sometimes come up used here, which is how I purchased m...
Another DAC bits and Hz question I believe, and I could be wrong, that many of the older DACs can offer a great value/$$$ over newer ones for redbook CD playback. Even if using a computer to playback AIFF or WAV files, provided a USB/SPDIF converter is used.
Budget Front Ported Bookshelf Recommendations Thanks Wolf, I will look into these.
Can audiohile be done on the porch Noromance, you are right that one need to consider ones neighbors. I live in the country, still must understand that sound travels. You sabbathtaged your adversary. Nicely done.
what to TURN to when starting $1000 budget I agree with Schubert that a headphone system provides great sound/dollar. I have a pair of AKG701s with headphone amp and they sound wonderful. Based on your post, I don't believe that is what you are looking for. Here goes one person's opinion o...
Budget Front Ported Bookshelf Recommendations Few drivers made today have foam surrounds. In my setting the speakers will not be subjected to excessive heat or unusual drying conditions which would cause them to age prematurely.
Budget Front Ported Bookshelf Recommendations Thanks Phase, Just looked into the primus line. THe 153s seem to best suit my spec requirement, the 143s my size requirement. As I have not yet built the fireplace I have some flexibility as to the size of the "cubby holes". Probably don't want to...
Can audiohile be done on the porch I play a system on the porch throughout the summer. Keep in the shade, away from pool. Sounds great with speakers in the open. It is not a permanent setup and is positioned each time.
Help for my return to vinyl -- $2K rig. I agree with Rhl though I am not familiar with the Basis . Buy the TT/arm combination that you can afford. Buy an inexpensive Cartridge and used phonostage as these can be improved upon as you expand your vinyl collection. My TT/arm have served me...
Bryston, Sansui or NAD..which amp to recondition? I agree with Kotta. Enjoy the Sansui as is. At most, recap the NAD pre. Usually hard to get replacement transistors for older solid state gear. Better to upgrade to newer used integrated than spending on the Bryston.
So what would you recommend for my next upgrade? Congrats. I also have some high Freq loss. Make many speakers that sound overly extended to some sound fine to me. I have liked the Thiels I have heard. I think you will enjoy the Jolida. Many gain/ load options for your Bluepoint. After some expe...
So what would you recommend for my next upgrade? May I ask which speakers and phono stage did you purchase? |
