Looking for a small, good receiver I own an Onkyo Receiver that is 1/2 width, 8Wx4Hx~10D. Nice little 18wpc receiver. Use it to drive 8ohm, 88dB Celestion F10 speakers. Can find then on Ebay. They came with remote when new, often sold used without. Go for ~$90 w/o remote.
Universal player or DAC? I think it depends on how important the video and SACD playback is to you. It might very well be that using the CD player as a transport into the Schiit DAC might be better than the BDP-103 for CD only playback. However this is something I dont k...
vintage yamaha versus sony amps or ? My thinking would be to purchase a used quality integrated amplifier and a USB DAC. What is your budget? Do you currently have speakers or will you be looking for those as well?
Starting out Audiophile separates? As a followup to my previous post let me ask a couple questions. What are going to use as a source(s) and for viewing.Do you have a dedicated room for the home theater? I ask this question because it has been my experience that many who try a mult...
Starting out Audiophile separates? If you are willing to purchase used, I think you can put something together for the $1000. Watch the classifieds here an AG and dont be afraid to ask questions of the sellers. Pay attention to their feedback. You will need a processor and 5 chann...
Dorm room audio Buy used Pioneer PL12D on Ebay. Great vintage TT, well built. With new belt and cartridge (Audio Technica 95E) makes a great starter table for ~$150.The use of powered speakers for a dorm setting is a good idea. However, another approach might be ...
amps, pre amps HELP There is more than one way to assemble a system. In your case you have gone from source to sink. No problem there. Now it seems you have a compatible match in a TT and amplification but have run out of budget (other post). As Paraneer states, matc...
If you started from scratch - what would you do? Replace the integrated. Continue to explore DACs having proper inputs for your anticipated needs. I use a disk player and have a computer as a server. Run both through the same DAC. Amplification technology is very mature. An integrated amp can ho...
new to this What do you have as a budget for speakers and amplification (integrated + phonostage)? Were you considering the RA-1520 as a new or used unit?
RUNNING POWERED SPEAKERS FROM AN IMAC +1 Lak. The use of an outboard DAC would make for a significant sonic improvement over the headphone jack output. At $129 new the AQ is one of the least expensive.
determing reflection points Check ceiling same way, need ladder.
Banana Plug Wall Plate w/Cabling Regarding question #1: I would get a box cover, drill a hole to fit the speaker wire, determine the length of wire to extend beyond the cover, wrap electrical around speaker wire on interior of cover so that wire cant be pulled through. No break ...
Power Cord for NAD C356DAC Int. Amplifier Go with a Pangea 14 from Audio Advisor. Better than stock and inexpensive.
hi, i trying to to get my first system together Zd is correct. You need to first identify what sonic character you most prefer. Many different fine systems can be developed on your budget. They would not all sound the same.If you are looking for more specific input, please provide additional in...
Has anyone in Mi.acheived holographic imaging? I think the fact that the room volume was so much greater than the volume required by the sound stage was the major contributor. I must say that I was impressed by the X12s. Now they often sell for ~$700. I think they do best with 100wpc SS amp. |
