Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@car123 @benzman It’s been covered before about the USB cable. The Amanero board in the Musetec is powered, and powered very well by the banks of supercapacitors. That’s one of the great features of the DAC. Therefore there is no current flowing...

@benzman System matching is always a critical issue. I’ve always opted for neutrality in each component if I can find it. You may be able to compensate a bit with tubes in your preamp, the same as I use. I think your focus on the DAC chips may ...
Understanding MQA/tidal/ DA conversion
I agree with @vinylvalet  Do yourself and the audio world a favor and let MQA pass away.

@sns  @charles1dad  There is no question, I think, but that the best of the new DACs take Redbook further than before.  My own experience is that the Musetec brings Redbook closer to high resolution than did the LKS, already close.  All this has...
Good cost effective USB cables for digital audio please
I recommended Audioquest Pearl.  It's a simple, well made solid core copper and very easy on the pocketbook.  If your DAC provides sufficiency in the high frequencies it will serve you very well.  If you need more in the highs, getting the AQ with...

The DAC is made in Jiaxing, close to Shanghai. My guess is that they can be drop-shipped from there.  But I think Shanghai is in the current Covid area. In any event, shipping time commitment is a good question to put to Shenzhen Audio before ord...

Sorry, I answered as though you asked for Symphony cycles.   I agree with @goofyfoot that you might be better off with selections that don't all come in the same box.  Though big boxes may be cheap per disk.

These sale prices from Shenzhen usually last a week or two. There seems never to have been a problem with Shenzhen’s safe delivery of a perfectly functioning new unit. Check posts here at about the time of the 2021 Black Thursday sale. However, th...

The two sets I have enjoyed the most recently are Zinman with the Zurich Tonhalle orchestra and the new one by Savall with his hand-picked orchestra.  Terrific sound on both of these. A classic though is the 1963 Karajan-Berlin set. Another that...

@theatro  Glad that you have the DAC connected.  Sometimes Windows is a nuisance. Please write of your impressions once you have it up and running for a while.
DAC Merry Go 'Round- why I stopped at Weiss
No one has yet mentioned that the Weiss 501 uses a pair of Sabre ESS 9018K2M chips, a ten year old design. Each of the chips uses two channels in a monaural configuration for a single output channel. Sabre chips probably have more R & D behind...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@charles1dad In the case of a DAC that one hasn’t heard, IMO there’s still more to go on than one’s gut. A DAC, like any other component, can’t give more than it has. So, with a bit of experience, one needs to look inside, a proposition that has ...

@lordmelton  Nice post. About a month ago when some of us early users were being criticized as "salesmen" my response was that most of the favorable comments these days were coming from those who had purchased recently and were sharing.  So thanks...

@rc22  Thanks for the kind words. You raise a very good point about the interaction of low level information, dynamic range, and ambient noise.  The equipment gets better and better.  The recordings get better and better.  The Dynamic Range of th...

I realize that, though I’m the OP here, apart from descriptions of its insides and very few well chosen words in the initial post, I haven’t offered a review of the Musetec DAC. I guess I should, but as so much has already been written about the M...
