What do you read regularly to learn about audio products or research? I forgot to mention High Fidelity magazine. Wojciech Pacuła is one of the best reviewers out there imho.
Nak PA 7 Power Amp The PA-7 was a Threshold/Pass design and licensed Nelson's Stasis technology. Stereo Review magazine measured the output at 253 watts into an 8-ohm load, 400 watts into a 4-ohm load, and 650 watts into two ohms. The amp had decent total capacitanc...
Speakers under $5000 maintained a reputation for quality sound over the last 15 years. If we’re including pre-loved speakers, amongst established brands i’d include Klipsch, Harbeth, Devore Fidelity, Joseph Audio, Magnepan and Martin Logan. In newer players, Gold Note.
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK... @jtgofish Those mark up rates are what Raidho would quote, not reputable brands like Vitus, Magico or Audia Flight, lol! Now hopefully you will honour your promise to shut up and allow this thread to get back on track.......
What do you read regularly to learn about audio products or research? @stereo5 You're a lucky guy. The Audiophile community misses him...
RMAF Variety is the spice of life. I'd recommend mixing up audiphile standards like Dianna Krall, Anne Bisson & Miles Davis with some jazz (Tony Bennett Duets, 'Red, Hot & Blue - A tribute to Cole Porter'), Classical (Mozart, Bach - Goldberg va...
What do you read regularly to learn about audio products or research? I do the rounds of the major review sites incl: Soundstage Network (in particular Soundstage Ultra), TAS, Positive Feedback, 6 Moons, Stereophile, Hifi+, Hifi Critic, Part Time Audiophile, Mono & Stereo (via FB) and check out the free Tone Pub...
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK... @jtgofish I can’t agree with your comments sorry. They just fly in the face of the my own experience and the vast majority of commentary on Magico, Vitus and Audia Flight gear, all of which i’m very familiar with. Let’s just leave it at that.
Tuning feed, equipment/amp racks, power- and room treatment. It does make a difference! There is no doubt that once you reach a certain level of gear, the room, isolation and ac power are critical to getting the full potential out of your system. I started out using locally made "Wally feet" which are similar in concept to the Harmon...
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK... @jtgofish I get what you were trying to convey, though I don’t think your comments about the Strumento No.1 preamp were fair or accurate. As EK himself clearly described, the preamp is in the same league as the No. 4 power amp. I get that tubes do...
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK... @ebm Yes Jtgofish owns a Supratek Cabernet 300b preamp. And given that was his second post in this thread insisting his preamp is far superior to the Audio Fliight Strumento No.1, some bias can be implied. As to the member’s claim “The preamp is s...
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK... Congrats @ebm , that’s a very nice setup you’ve got there. I could see the warm sounding AF amps being a good match with the very neutral/linear Q3’s 👍 . I’m a happy camper running Vitus Signature series gear with my S5 Mk2’s. There is a slight ...
Gold Note speakers any owners? I don’t own Gold Note speakers, but have heard them on a few occasions, incl: their stand mounts. They sound smooth, quite detailed and well controlled. Build quality is excellent I thought and they look like attractive pieces of furniture. The ke...
Am I using the right speaker cables? Jake, good to hear you were able to solve the sound issues with some re-setting of cable connections. As the old saying goes...read the manual! Though hopefully some of the advice given by members will be useful down the track. Enjoy!
Am I using the right speaker cables? Cables which I know have solid bass are Siltech Royal Signature series and Stage III Concepts. Purist Audio Design also has good bass. Of those, i'd probably start with Stage III Concepts and PAD. |
