Adding a Rotel RMB-1075
That shouldn't be a problem. As long as you aren't pushing the speakers so hard that they distort. You would probably have to have them cranked well beyond normal reasonable listening levels to do that. If you are concerned or uncertain about that...
MAC HC vs. Iego L70530 vs. AudioQuest AC15 p/c
Try the Tube Audio Design Iron Lung Jellyfish cord. I like it better than the MAC HC, Signal Magic PC, and Black Sand Violet Z1 (which is a $350.00 PC). For the life of me, I can't figure out why they don't get more praise on this forum. They are ...
Adding a Rotel RMB-1075
I had a RSX-1056 receiver, and added a RMB-1075 amp. In my experience, and this is only my opionion based on that, it was not that big of a difference to the stand alone RSX-1056. Maybe a bit quieter/cleaner with a bit more low level detail. Volum...
Are lossless Codec's worth upgrading my processor
It was worth it for me. Here is what I noted when I went to the Integra 9.8 with the new HD audio codecs. For reference, I was previously using a Rotel RSP-1068 processor, which I thought was excellent in it's own right-Bigger, more enveloping sou...
$600 +/- Bookshelfs w/ Holographic Soundstage
Paradigm Studio 20 V4. Should be able to get them used for your price range. Very good speaker for the money.
CDP Recommendations under $700
I have demoed the Apollo and the Arcam CD73 in my system. Both are outstanding for the price point, but I preferred the Apollo. IMO the Arcam was more detailed, but the Apollo has a nice smooth, natural sound to it (more "analogue" sounding I gues...
Paradigm Servo 15 picking up AM radio station
Thanks for the responses guys. I think it is coming from the processor. The power cord that I am using on the processor is not shielded, so I may try removing that part of the equation by replacing it with a shielded PC and see what happens. I did...
First SACD to Listen To?
Patricia Barber "Cafe Blue," Diana Krall "The Girl in the Other Room," or Ryan Adams "Hartbreaker" are all superb sounding SACD's.
Esoteric Owners
My SA-10 has standby mode. Although I don'treally use it. It is left in the "on" mode pretty much 24/7, as I agree with you that it sounds much better when it's been warmed up.
speaker recommendation 2500 or less small room
Usher BE-718. Used can be had here on AG for $1700-$2000. Can probably be had from a dealer for $2400-2500 new if you can talk them down from $2795 retail. Superb speaker for the money. Monitors aren't going to get much better in this price range ...
Lie you told your wife to buy equipment?
It's ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. That's a credo to live by for married men (ha ha ha). Don't lie, just wait until it's a done deal. Most times my wife doesn't notice a different piece of equipment. ...
NOS DAC
Non-oversampling is what I believe is being referred to as "NOS."
Best bookshelf monitor under $1000 new or used.
The Paradigm Studio 20 v4 are a great monitor for the money. Can be had for $600-$700 used here on Audiogon. They received an excellent review in a recent issue of Stereophile. The Studio 20 v3 is also very good, and can be had for slightly less.
Transport that outputs SACD DSD signal w/ coaxial?
Narrod-I wasn't suggesting it would output the DSD digitally, but rather decode it from it's digital input, and output it through it's analog outs. Here is a link to the manual-http://www.musicalfidelity.com/manuals/archive/tri21_eng.pdfGo to page...
Transport that outputs SACD DSD signal w/ coaxial?
Ok, thanks guys. Great information. I suspected that it may be similar to DVD players not being able to output upconverted video signals over analog component outputs (only HDMI), but I wasn't sure. So, the better question is what is the point wit...
