VPI Dust Cover
Although inexpensive, the VPI Scout "dust cover," if that is what you want to call it, is useless IMO. I suppose it may cover the platter and protect the tonearm/cartridge, but shouldn't it keep dust out too? The first time I saw it, I was scratch...
$20 XLR cables that sound good
I recently tried bulk Mogami 2534 wire terminated with basic Neutrik XLR terminations that I assembled myself for about $20.00 (including shipping) for a 5' pair of IC's. They are OUTSTANDING. There is an AG member who sells them premade for $100....
LAST - then and now?
Audiofeil's arrogant and condescending tone is extremely well documented on this site. That is one thing that is not really debatable. Belittlement seems to be a primary motive in his responses. Click on "Answers" at the bottom of any of his posts...
LAST - then and now?
Jeffb28451-Well put! I could not agree with you more.
Anti-Cable IC's vs. Signal Cable IC's
I have tried the Anti-cable speaker cables and IC's, and the Signal Cable Silver Resolution IC cables w/ silver bullets. I found the Anti-cables to be outstanding, and the Signal cables mediocre, at best. That was just my experience, in my system....
Scout vs. P5
I can't comment on the P5, but I am a total vinyl newbie and recently purchased a Scout and a Dynavector 10x5 and am extremely happy. I have not heard the Rega P5, or any Rega in my system for that matter, so I don't know how the two compare. All ...
What is the best power cable under $200.00 retail?
Tube Audio Design Iron Lung Jellyfish PC- $30.00. I tried it, as well as a MAC HC, Signal Magic PC, and Audio Horizons Transparency, In my system, it was the best, and for the money it is hard to beat. I have my whole HT setup wired with these PC'...
6H30 tubes ringing in BAT VK-300SE
Thanks for all of the responses. Good information here. Seems like I have confirmation on what I was suspecting- it is a tube issue, but live with it as it does not seem to affect the sound. I was more concerned with getting feedback from other BA...
6H30 tubes ringing in BAT VK-300SE
Karelfd-I am assuming it is the tubes, because if I tap on them even when they are not in the amp, they ring.Riley804-I do already use Herbie's tube dampers.I have actually asked Victor at BAT about this, and he did not really have an answer at th...
Cartridge fresh out of the box
AudioFeil International:"Don't be misled by inexperienced contributors"An arrogant tone doesn't add value to your post.
Adding a Rotel RMB-1075
If you are not worried about the new HD audio codecs (DTS Master, Dolby True HD), the Arcam AVR 350 receiver is outstanding and can be had easily in your price range (used here on AG). I haven't had experience with it myself, but everything I have...
Phone Preamp help for VPI Scout w Grado Sonota MM
I will second the Jasmine LP2.0SE. I just got one a couple of weeks ago that I am using with my Scout and a Dynavector 10x5 cartridge. It is outstanding IMHO, especially for the money. They have a 30 day return policy for the full retail of $649.0...
VPI Scout- motor pops in speakers when turned off
Wow. This is not where I intended the thread to go. I will state for the record that they were very nice and courteous when I talked to them on the phone (I didn't get the gentleman's name). Here is a link to a thread from 2003 on Audio Asylum in ...
Paradigm Servo 15 picking up AM radio station
Thanks for all of your responses. I finally bit the bullet and took the sub in for service to get it checked out, and it turned out I had a loose ground wire connection inside the unit. I bought the sub here in AG, so it probably got jarred loose ...
VPI Scout- motor pops in speakers when turned off
Buconero117-I couldn't agree more with your post. They (VPI) KNOW it is an issue. That was obvious when I spoke to them on the phone. I can appreciate the fact that he didn't play dumb and act as if I was the first person they had heard from regar...
