Speakers VERY close to wall - Cork board useful?
I think all cork will do is eat up more valuable real estate back there. The vents look like a good idea. I have relocated ports, cutting out frontal ports with a hole saw. Then sealed the rear cavities. I got the same sized ports from a parts sup...

To update it seems "ok" now. After unplugging it It was on for over a day before I had a chance to use it. Maybe it only does this when its cold. I've had intermittent things happen in the past that would only act up while cold, or after coming up...
Has there been any inexpensive item that enhanced your system's sound?
Before having dedicated line installed I changed my outlet to a Hubbell industrial grade receptacle. Results may very. My old one was aged and worn hardly held up an AC cord. But they were clean. Next I had dedicated line installed. The only son...
SVS or Velodyne
I thoroughly enjoyed my SVS’ for home theatre effects.I stopped using them with music I wasn’t happy with there performance. Rythmik gets a big yes from me.
Guidelines for buying used speakers (as in, are there any?)

8-16 ohm budget speakers
Some of the late 70's - early 80's BBC monitors would fit the bill.

I was simply not able to try any of the troubleshooting methods suggested above simply because I dont often bring my audio gear with me when I go away. Surely not stuff thats unusable, falconquest.  I felt my post was descriptive and that adding m...

I dont see it as "getting burned" as I have done very well on 2nd ownership audio during the past year. Im on vacation ill try some of those suggestions when I return. Much appreciated.
Can I bi-amp with an integrated amp's Main-In, and a Power amp?
it wouldn't hurt to try and let your ears be the judge.
The Worst Speaker you have ever heard.
Cerwin Vega! but thinking back it might of also had something to do with the amplifier which is still popular and highly controversial around reviewer pages. After a break then returning to audio I thought I could build a quick and easy HIFI after...
Concert Experience for $5k?
rhljazz811 posts03-08-2016 12:00pmKlipsch La Scala’s should do the trick with all the power you have with the v12 amp. Before finishing OP’s entire post the thought yelled out to me, La Scala’s! Had the question been around jazz or a live unplugged...
I have an uber awesome amp, why buy a speaker with a built in woofer sub-woofer amp
I do not like the idea of subs built in to full range speakers and will stay away from them. I do not like the idea of limited subwoofer placement. This is a good deal if it suits application.  https://www.audiogon.com/listings/solid-state-anthony...
looking for a stand mount speaker to match a s/s int amp.
Typically the more efficient a speaker is the more listenable and enjoyable it will become at lower volumes. I would want to find some sort of balance and that may prove to be difficult. The Classe makes a lot more current and you may not get the b...
What makes an expensive speaker expensive
Having access to a place like this saved audio enthusiasts over the years. Some big Canadian brands may not of reached certain levels of success had it not been for the NRC up here     http://www.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/eng/solutions/facilities/indoor_envi...
Active Subwoofer Crossover
It sounds like you could use some subs!I reckon subs in a way are like that old chicken and egg adage. In that they too will continue being debated well on into history.I have full range 3 way speakers of lesser volume but quite adequate for the r...
