Need New Bookshelf Speakers of Certain 'Style'
Yes you won't "pressurize" the room with bookshelf speakers. You will need to stay relatively close to them, if you were planning on moving around and hearing your music at a specific volume , that won't happen. Getting your wife to agree to floor...
Rotel CD player
Indeed, this kind of problem, frequently signals the death of the CD player. I have lost several to mechanical problems. I agree with Akg that this failure is not a matter of if but really of when. How long have you owned it? This may be the time t...
6L6WGC/5881 Tube choices for Amp
For very helpful guidance seek out vendor Jim McShane who resides mainly at Audio Asylum and on the net as McShane Design. I have had excellent results with him and his voice is well respected on the Tube Asylum. No financial incentive, just a happ...
Stereophiles from late 1980s-early 1990s
That's equipment, or parts and top of the line stuff. To really be worth anything it has to be special now and kept in pristine condition. I know some really rare stuff can be restored, but for the most part the "good stuff" of the future, is the ...
I need to adapt a Hegel HD 25 DAC to 12 volts.
I think Butler Audio makes car audio. I remember they offered a car tube amp at one time.
Agree or Disagree? - FM tuner info site
I am amused by their rankings. I have only had a limited number of tuners -a couple of Sansuis the 7700, and 5900, a Nikko Gamma 1, I bought while in college 40 years ago and still own,- and some Sherwood tubed tuners that are sentimental, because...
Advice - What turntable should I buy ???
I second and heartily endorse the inexpensive VPI. I own an original MMF-5 and it is truly easily set up, done for you at the factory, and the sound is very very nice, but it isn't nearly as precise or throw a stage like the VPIs.
Heard of Soltanus Acoustics ESL Virtuoso ?
Is this an ad of some type?? This is your first and only post.
Reviewing the Reviewers - and the decline of HiFi

Surreal Speakers: Made to order in Virginia, USA
An Acoustic pretzel, what an image, I am having some difficulty with that. I was a little surprised but don't doubt the veracity of quality control problems with the legendary Lowthers. It has been a darling of the single driver crowd for a verty ...
Selling Aesthetix Pandora - What price?
Wow I didn't know about the recent sales search trick, thanks as well!
Selling Aesthetix Pandora - What price?
I am curious about this question of a price which is "more than fair"?. How do you decide what is fair and what isn't? Are you taking a percentage of new?
Would Klipsch forte ii go good with my system
Did you ask in the Klipsch for a? I own Heresys (I bought new in 1976/77) and Lascala also late 70s version (original flavor). I don't think they would offhand because I find the more recent Klipsch don't sound like the "vintage" or classic (?trad...
Selling Aesthetix Pandora - What price?
The price new is $7,000- it would have to be desirable! I don't know what is fair and what is not, but an auction if well publicized, in the appropriate marketplace, will dictate what it is worth to someone else. (at that time etc. at least.)
Tube question - need new ones
RAM tubes are graded for noise and you pay for that. Some of the tubes are inexpensive Chinese but he tests them like no one else. If you need supremely quiet tubes he might be the right guy. All that testing and rooting out less than the best of ...
