I don't think any of you are wrong. The OP may not have had any other experience with a better Hi Fi amp. He wants to know if it really a giant killer sounding as good as amps much more costly he himself is not familiar with. ZD -Your answer is al...
Mastersound 845 Evolution/Unison Res. Performance
I haven't heard the combinations you seek to hear peoples experience. I did look the amps up however. the Unison Research Performance integrated lists specs that would drive your speakers especially if you play music with moderately amounts of low...
Zesto Andros PS-1 Tubes
The Teles are very durable they seem to last forever. Did you get your ECC83 12AX7 = M8137 equivalent NOS NIB. If so it should also have a long life. I am wondering why your Brimar gave out so quickly even if it had a limited lifetime by measureme...
Industrial grade steel storage rack as audio rack?
I use a cvouple of them to store wine. It never occurred to me that could be used for audio. You are going to have damped shelves on that one and not little cheap jobs. I agree these thins ring like a bell. All that said I would use something else...
Audio Eden & Lack of Response - Anyone Else?
Perhaps we should start a more focused Audiogon review system for this site. This would allow people to comment on their experiences with vendors of repair anything else audio. I would feel confident sending my precious and loved components to guy...
Zesto Andros PS-1 Tubes
I thought you said it was autobiased. If you change the output tubes on an amp and it is manually biased ,that is when you need to bias the tubes. I never heard of anyone biasing small signal tubes. (I am sure there is an exception out there ...)S...
Headphone Adaptor for Power Amplifier?
I bought one of the Bravo amps myself and agree whole heartedly with Wolf. A remarkable little amp that uses 1 12AU7 I rolled mine it also, although the stock Shuguang isn't really that bad in this application. The price went up some but it is sti...
Need a subwoofer reccomendation.....
I think that there should be a fuse for the amp elements. It is unusual to have none at all especially with the kind of power that subs use. Speakers don't always have fuses I think most don't.
Salk HT3, SF Cremona M, Magnepan 3.7 or ML Ethos?
I am not a Magnepan lover but from what you describe as being important to you I would think they fit your bill. I agree that there had to be a problem with the set up. The Sonus Faber tilt towards warm and full. Your description of the Salk's sou...
Red Dragon's new S500 Class D Amp
You are right about the Kappa nines and eights needing a lot of power. I tend to think of power as high current power, I am not sure if the new amp modules fill that general requirement. We can talk about it forever and never know. The only way yo...
Do true audiophiles own Mcintosh gear
Roger Russell has written about the development of loudspeakers at McIntosh, which he was a major part of. His website also provides free access to the data base he compiled on the electronics that McIntosh has produced. I am surprised that there ...
Now Playing: American Graffiti soundtrack LP
Is this a new release of the soundtrack?
Using solid copper Door Bell wire as speaker wire.
Still difficult to believe that different amps all sound the same if level matched. If that is true then we should all be using very inexpensive amps. You did find cables made a difference. I don't think that argues for the use of very inexpensive...
Need some thoughts how to arrange the speakers
The angled wall with dampened windows looks like it will work. Keep the couch where it is and put your favorite listening chair facing the speaker wall. You just won't be able to have more than one person in the sweet spot.
McIntosh MA5200
A very serious bit of kit. About $5000 with as many as 9 inputs and rated at 100WPC into 8 Ohms, evidently measures higher at around 130 into 8 Ohm and A German Hi Fi Mag. Stereoplay found 206WPC into 4 Ohm. McIntosh does not provide a 4Ohm measure.
