Need advice on Budget CD player for this system... What's the budget if with the soft sounding CJ think about a used Music Hall CD-25, tons of presence clean excellent dynamics. It would probably synergize/compensate well. They run about $550 new $350 used.
Dali, Amphion, Zu Whatever you do don't simply buy the flavor of the month Zus. Listen to them first yourself, every real verifiable person I know that has heard them including myself didn't think much of them.
Tube recommendations for Jolida JD1000A integrated Don't own your amp but if you can swing it I love the JJ EL 34s for output tubes beautiful midrange boost but not a strong bottom end. The Input tubes can be sweetened as a general rule by using real 1960s Mullards or even Brimars which can be noi...
Power Strip Sound Differences. I use a Q bar which has served me well in another system. It definitely has surge suppression I learned that quickly when a partially inserted plug came out. It shut down every thing completely instantly. It is supposedly well defended against RFI...
Your Favorite Top 10 tuners all time Of the ones you mentioned I own a Nikko Gamma 1. It crushes my mint Sansui 5900. I wouldn't have believed it but its true the Sansui just a couple of steps down from the vaunted 9900.
Aesthetix Calypso, Tuberolling questions? You mighy want to try 5751s (Sylvania Gold pins are the holy grail of 5751s but my GE 5 star's work beautifully) in place of the 12AX7s they have slightly lower gain but some how brought more air and soundstage to my system. Mullard 10Ms may indee...
CLASS A AMPLIFIERS I hate answering my own questions but after several attempts to get Klipsch to answer with regards to my Palladium 1Ks running 125 watts in class A (and threatening to call Mondial directly). I finally got a response. A completely unqualified yes ...
Klipsch speakers sound better than ever I would like to swap out my AA crossovers for the new and improved variants what's involved. Can inexperienced person do it or do you need more than fundamental this is the woofer wiring just connect to them etc.
Which Lamm should I add to the flock? Best amp I ever heard was the hybrid 2.1. I heard a while back but I didn't get to hear the tube models. I agree with Kurt on that I just couldn't afford it.
audio shop repair costs Coda, yes they still exist said $65/hour and that most repairs for my item rarely go over an hour. For factory service I guess that's a reasonable amount. I had CDP repaired locacally wich included two welds for $25.
Subtle speaker help needed If you mean subtle as in unobtrusive and you want a multi speaker system JM labs makes an entry level speaker system called Cubs. I am not a complete Bose Basher because I am the son of a late audiophile whose friend had one of the first sets of 9...
Best budget phono preamp? There is a little known small box phono pre with user adjustable gain from Australia called Redgum superb very musical presentation. A little more than the Bellari and SS, but friends of mine are generally stunned by its quality -for a little box ...
Does one NEED multiple amps? Your question was need another amp. The only answer that even came close to answering that question was for biamping. The truth is you are asking audiophiles who have an obsession with sound. No one else in the world needs an amp period. What a pe...
CLASS A AMPLIFIERS The total output is given as 400 watts into 8 ohms and 1000 watts into 2 ohm, I guess that why the full name is Aragon Palladium 1K. They can't really be running that high in class A they just aren't that big and never run really hot just warm. Lo...
Australian Tube Pre-Amp It has to be supratek. The only other phono stage I know of from Australia that makes it to the U.S. is Redgum. I don't think anyone would start a thread on that company. I have one and like it a lot for an economy stage but I doubt that it is wha... |
