Who is excited about Capital Audiofest 2023?
Oops!! I didn’t realize those speakers were over $40k; thought they were more like the Border Patrol stuff re price.  Regardless, very nice room!
Who is excited about Capital Audiofest 2023?
Geez, can’t believe I forgot!  Since I’m a bit of a Triode Wire Labs fan-boy, I had to visit my friend Pete Grzybowski.  He was showing his cables with Living Voice speakers and Border Patrol amp and DAC.  This was one of my favorite rooms, showin...

I spent over 6 hours there yesterday and am planning on returning tomorrow.  I was surprised by how many good sounding rooms there were this year.  Other speakers not already mentioned included the active ATC SCM50ASL ($22k), Borresen M1 ($100k!),...
Looking for intermediate-step Streamer: better than BS Node and not @ Bartok level pricing
+1 re Simaudio.  Friend of mine is replacing his Bartok with the new Moon 891 from the new North collection.  Way above your budget but couple of options are: Mind 2 - $3,000 for streamer 280D - $3,900 for streamer/DAC Their streaming platform ...
One key to building great systems over time.
@ghdprentice  Not sure I agree (respectfully).  I don’t think there’s just one path, and I think there are actually a lot of boutique companies out there that have not yet - and may never - achieve widespread appeal and coverage by the mainstream...
The greatest Pop song yet written and recorded.
Well, I’m pretty much an ignoramus regarding music theory, though much more conversant in literature/poetry.  But to me, a great pop song requires both a great melody, and great lyrics/depth of meaning. So, at least by my standards, “God Only Know...

@tylermunns  That’s hilarious!  And “Time After Time” is a seriously underrated song.  Miles was a master of melody, so he got it,
The greatest Pop song yet written and recorded.
Miles Davis knows:  it’s either “Bye Bye Blackbird”, “My Funny Valentine”, or “Time after Time”.   Honorable mentions (cuz Miles didn’t cover them): “Daniel” by Elton John, and “Angel From Montgomery” by John Prine.
You’re An Independent Dealer, Which Companies And What Products Would You Represent?
first and foremost, he should sell stuff he believes in (and at several different price points).  i would also imagine it would be helpful to have only one or two distributors, rather than 10.
What new gear have you just bought?
Bunch of recent purchases, but most recent were an Audio Sensibility power strip (star-wired) and an iFi GND Defender (safe way to lift ground).  Why?  After I paired my new Leben RS30-EQ (tube phono pre) with my almost as new Leben CS600x, I noti...
Vinyl Lovers
in addition to Music Direct, Elusive Disc, and Acoustic Sounds, I’ve purchased direct from Blue Note (mainly jazz of course).  Still good idea to do independent research on quality of pressings.
Best speakers for classic rock
@deep_333  Lol!  mic drop by @atmasphere  ”atmasphere out!”
Lush and Romantic Tube Amps
I have, and love, the Leben CS600x.  I might not characterize it as lush, though it definitely tilts warm in my system.  Another Leben alternative is the CS1000p, which is a 100w tube amp.  Haven’t heard it myself, but i’m a big fan of the brand.
Ruminations On CD Players
Pro-ject has some well regarded transport and DAC choices if you desire matchy-matchy:  DS2T Transport - $899; S2+ DAC -$399; RS2T Transport - $3199; RS2 DAC -$2249.  (Maybe a little weird that they don’t have any DACs in range between $399 and $2...
Anyone buy one yet? Thoughts?
For $399 you can get an iFi Zen Stream - have one in my vintage system, and it’s performed well.  I use it as a Roon endpoint with a Topping DAC.
