Class d for ht. Given these are for surround channels and not primary music listening, why not Classdaudio? They have a good reputation and you could purchase 2 of their 4 channel amps for under $2000. Then spend the difference to have your HVAC ducting for th...
Odyssey "Khartago" Stereo Extreme" amp compared to Schitt's "Vidar" amp Back to the original poster’s questions. Depending on your room size, the vidar may or may not be powerful enough for the Magnepan .7. For my 5000cu foot room and 3.5s, it was not enough, but good sounding. For many Maggie users it is, includin...
Crown vs Vidar I ran a Vidar while having my Sunfire rebuilt. Thought it was very transparent, no grain, good bass, nice imaging. The only reason I didn’t keep it was my speakers are very inefficient and work better with the 600 watt a side of the sunfire. Ru...
Schiit Freya plus. Is this an upgrade? Oh, I should note, I am looking at going from the GFP-750 because volume knob is scratchy in the right channel when using balanced and the remote is getting flaky. The volume pot is still available, but other parts are becoming NLA (balance). I ...
Schiit Freya plus. Is this an upgrade? rrebello9,Thanks for your comments about the Freya. I have a GFP-750 and tried a Freya last year and was shocked at how much better the GFP-750 was, not subtle, but massive (in all modes). I was not sure if the Freya I got was defective, and Sch...
Active Subwoofer Recommendations 3rd the Rythmik L12. They stand out in sound quality at this price. The only other subs I would consider at the price point are HSU.
Adcom GFP-710 to Schiit Freya - upgrade? Totally straight faced. The veiling I heard was in every mode, passive, jfet and tube. I want to try another Freya as I think there was something wrong with the one I had.
Used Amp Under $1000 I second the Vidar. Used one while my Sunfire was being rebuilt to power my 3.5s. Sounded great, but wished for more power, but I am in a large room, like to turn it up, and was pushing larger speakers than the MG1.
Adcom GFP-710 to Schiit Freya - upgrade? I use a GFP-750 and tried a Freya and found the Freya notably inferior. Veiled and poor imaging. I ended up returning the Freya with a note that I thought it might be defective, but Schiit never notified me of a problem with it. That said, I am...
Is a Bryston 3B SST2 enough for Magnepan 3.7i or 20.7? Here are my two cents as a longtime Magnepan owner (SMGa, 2.7, MG.6, MG-12, currently 3.5s). I like to crank it up and have my Maggies in a pretty large room (about 4000 cubic feet). Power makes a big different in that situation. When I had my Sun...
SPEAKERS, SPEAKERS AND MORE SPEAKERS.. BUT NEED BASS.? So here is what we know about the OP:1) He listens to Jazz and Folk;2) He may or may not have speakers since he hasn’t bothered to tell us what he has. 3) He likes bass, only cares about the bass, has told us nothing about what he prefers for othe...
New audio setup? There is no reason to get two Vidars, one is plenty of power for those speakers.Schiit makes a great phonostage for $130.
Help me pick from my sub-$1200 shortlist DH-220 was a great amp and powered a set of Vandersteen 2c and Magnepan SMGa wonderfully. If you want to upgrade it, send it off to Audio Concepts.Oh, I vote for the Vandersteens.
Advice for killer desktop speakers I found my happieness with a set of used Totem Mites. $400, small, decent extension.
Magnepan 3.6 or 3.7 I love my 3.5s. I loved my SMGas, .6s, 12s and 2.7s, but wouldn’t go back. I believe with Maggies, every generation brings improvements. Get the newest you are comfortable purchasing. |
