Subwoofer cables, what kind? I am using Harmonic Technology Precision Link's with XLR's to my HGS-15. But when I went to a balanced link between my amp and pre ( I only have one set of XLR output ) I had HT change one end to RCA. It works great. Dale
Quest for Audiophile Zen Since I do not know your room I will take blind stab here.Well, maybe a PS Audio Power Plant will do. No, no first, more than likely your speaker positioning and your room acoustics will need to be dealt with. The wall behind your speakers probabl...
Can someone tell me what this song is?? Yes it is Antonio Vivaldi's "Le Quattro Stagioni" and this is my favorite recording of it. I am pretty sure that this is the "The English Concert" with Simon Standage and Trevor Pinnock on Archiv.(400 045-2) It has a great picture on the booklet o...
Big sub-woofer sitting on carpet HELP OH Yea! That is a major point. It is magnetic. Bad choice. But I wonder if it would tailor the sound in , oh never mind. Dale
Big sub-woofer sitting on carpet HELP You can get lead shot at a reloading supply for reloading shotgun shells. But you must be careful with lead especially if you have kids or small critters because lead is toxic. I sealed up the burlap sacks that the lead shot comes in with wax, Zip...
Big sub-woofer sitting on carpet HELP I have the same woofer and I had an unfortunate accident with some brass spikes that I installed. Or may it was the 40 lbs. of lead shot that I laid inside the cabinet. Anywise, I drilled the bottom of the cabinet and screwed in some inserts and t...
I'm not into Home Theater but... First of all, I am extremely sorry for this total tragedy. It was obviously brutal and senseless and it has no place in a modern world where people claim to think. I hope that you and your nephew will find peace after all this. He will probably ne...
Analysis Plus vs. Harmonic Technology Acoustic Zen and Harmonic Tech are basically made the same way with the same designs and materials/same company (because of the business partners) so I would be surprised if they sound any different. As far as the differences between Harmonic Tech...
Truely balanced the better design? I have found many times that I prefer a single-ended connection on front end equipment to a balanced. The fully balanced connection from my preamp to the amp improves sound but the single-ended was considerbly beter from the CD to the preamp. Dale
A good cartridge between 300.00 and 400.00 The Blue Point Special is a good call if it matches your system. But I think that the current king of the low priced great sounding cartridges is the MM Grado Platinum Reference Series. Grado has found some unique ways to make an incredibly great ...
Exchange Krell KAV-250a for a Pass Labs X-350? I already own the Pro Silways ( balanced from pre to amp and single-ended from CD to pre ) and the Pro-11 and I am very happy with them. But if there is more to be had by a simple cable change then I am willing. I am surprised that you didn't find...
Speaker Stand Recommendation I have not heard that so I cannot verify or deny. They have a web site up still so I guess that you could go and ask them. I know that May Audio still carries their whole line. Dale
Speaker Stand Recommendation I purchased the Target HR-60 for my Dynaudio's and I am very happy with them. They are a beefy stand made from thick metal plates. They are a heavy duty stand and once they are filled with sand they are very stable. I am also experimenting with so...
Exchange Krell KAV-250a for a Pass Labs X-350? Thanks Sqjudge, I am getting some great lessons in balanced circuitry. I just knew how good this preamp was at sonic reproduction so I had to inquire. I did not understand the explanation Of Danelk141 so I had to start investigating. You hit it ri...
Exchange Krell KAV-250a for a Pass Labs X-350? Danielk141 You are starting to get into realms that I don't deal with but here but here is the statement for the S-100 manual. From input to output, the S100's circuits are engineered for very-low-distortion Class-A operation, with a vanishingly lo... |
