What is the best compressed iTunes format?
Realremo - If I were planning to use my iPod for anything beyond listening at work on occasion I would probably be more concerned about the quality. I have an iPod dock at home that uses the iPods DAC and it sounds like junk no matter what format ...
modest towers with high WAF for living room?
For that price I'd consider Focal 816v speakers, but here's my main advice.Narrow your search to two or three speakers that you like the sound of and then give her the final choice. In my case, I let my wife choose the finish and she hasn't compla...
What is the best compressed iTunes format?
I just did a one song comparison of Apple Lossless, 128 AAC, and 192 MP3 and can't say that with my headphones that there is a significant enough difference to not just go with the AAC format that iTunes will do automatically. There is a small dif...
What is the best compressed iTunes format?
The iPod spent the night updating. Just under 26 GB to just over 4 GB. I'll check the sound quality and see how it compares and play around with creating parallel mp3 files as well.
What is the best compressed iTunes format?
I managed to still have iTunes version 7 so now it's updated and I have identified the button. Thanks!
What is the best compressed iTunes format?
It appears that the option to down convert isn't on my version of iTunes that was downloaded just a few days ago.
What is the best compressed iTunes format?
I'm still looking for the iPods properties, but I'll keep looking. Also, is it possible to convert from Apple Lossless to MP3 using the existing files and not having to mess with the CDs again?

HT amp for my father - advice please
The speakers are only rated at 86 dB so I would anticipate power being a bit more important than with a lot of speakers. It sounds like you need a receiver that has two or three powered zones and I would recommend getting one that has pre-outs for ...
what are some lossless bluray titles?
I would expect that all of them would be lossless, but the final quality can still vary. I don't know why anyone would go to the trouble of putting lossy stuff on blu-ray unless it was previously available on DVD. Look for recent recordings.www.bl...
Can a new DAC help me?
An HDMI cable is required to handle digital TrueHD lossless signal. The other option is to have the blu-ray player output the signal in individual analog channels (i.e. 8 individual cables for 7.1).
What is the best compressed iTunes format?
Mezmo,If I were planning to rip everything again from scratch I'd probably take your advice. I don't do anything, at this point, on my main system outside of my CD player so having the lossless files isn't an issue right now. I'm just planning to ...
What is the best compressed iTunes format?
I think what I'm going to do is rip all of my audiophile CDs in Apple Lossless and the in the same MP3 format that I've previously ripped the rest of my CDs. I may need to upgrade the quality of a few CDs.

"...if the center is of equivalent quality..." - PmcneilI can't disagree with you on this, but is the home theater advantage big enough to warrant spending a little less on the mains assuming the same overall budget? It's all about choices for peo...
What is the best compressed iTunes format?
I was just doing a little more research on the Apple Lossless format since I didn't realize that it reduced the file size so much compared to WAV.Is this calculation correct?30 GB = 30,000 MB / 652 MB (max per CD) = 45 CD (approx.)If I assume that...
