I hope to hear the D'Agostino amps next week. I'm looking forward to it.The EAR CD Player was the Acute III. My friend ended up buying it. If I still spun CD's, I would too. Mike

Boulder is definitely on my very short list! Can't wait to hear them.

Wolf - playing bass and controlling bass are two completely different things. If I gave you a really old paper cone bass amp, you wouldn't like the way the bass sounded (flabby). Just like some guitarists prefer tube amps to SS amps....it's the sa...

Yes and the 710 stereo. I compared them head to head with ML53's, Accuphase, EAR and whatever else my dealer had. It wasn't even close. The speakers were Amati Futura's. The source was an EAR CD player which was phenomenal for the money (a little ...

Thanks all! Speakers will likely be Raidho D3's. Krell was my first reaction, especially the evo series, but I want to hear them along with Constellation, Vitus, Jeff Rowland and a few others. I've heard (and loved Soulution), but fear the 500 mon...

Are you serious? Have you owned these speakers? I have. If you don't own these, then stop spreading misinformation. The Salon 2's demand MASSIVE amounts of power. I had 1.2kws on them, and it was "proper". My previous 600 watt amp was suffocating.
How big of a difference do amps make?
Huge difference. Going from SS to tube is great if you have very efficient speakers. Otherwise, you will become frustrated quickly. How efficient? My rule of thumb is 90db or higher - but if your tube amp has low power, then much hire db efficient...

Let me give you another idea (and just to further confuse you!) - Sonus Faber Anniversarios (there is a good looking pair for sale here on AG). Add in a pair of mint used McIntosh 2301's (call Mike at Audio Classics and mention my name). Add in a ...
