Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225
" Charles- it’s a daytrip to NY for me to sample them, so it’s hard to arrange. I may fit it in, but as it looks now, I am likely opting for the flagship 219ia."I didn't realize you were that close. If you're making a day trip, In Living Stereo is...
SET amp comparable to First Watt SIT 1?
Is an SET design really necessary? I have a VAC amp that uses 2 300b's per channel, and it drives just about anything. I had it on a pair of ESL's for over 2 years and had absolutely no problems.
What SS preamp compares to a tube preamp
" Yeah, go ahead and do as they say, just don't blame me for waisted $3k."That makes absolutely no sense. Your advice is to not buy a preamp. If the OP goes out and buys a new preamp and isn't happy with it, why would you be blamed for the mistake...
What SS preamp compares to a tube preamp
" I enjoy the liquidity and richness of the tubes, I do like the detail of the SS preamps also....tough call."After reading that, I thought I'd comment on the Ayre K-5 a bit more. Liquidity in an audio component is difficult to define. But the fir...
Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225
" Came across this.. LM219ia with cornwalls. NO you cannot decyfer truly, the sound in this room. For all I know it is recorded on a phone. However with the bit of audible discernance that is realistic with videos like this, it appears, that this ...
Power cable recommendations under $1k
You're asking for way too many specific qualities. If you happen to pick a cable without listening to it that works, it will be accidental. And to make it more difficult, you're trying to improve on a PC that's already working well for you. Call C...
MMF-7 or VPI Traveler
The VPI is a better TT. The DV is also a very good match, but you need to know if its the high or low output version. I have the low output version myself, and I would definitely buy it again. If your phono pre only works with high out carts, you'...
Power Amp with digital input?
" An integrated amp is overkill, with more inputs and controls than I want."You don't have much of a choice. If you put a dac in a poweramp, the only way to get a preamp is to have it built into the amp. Since most people have more than one source...
What SS preamp compares to a tube preamp
Listen to an Aesthetix Calypso for a tube preamp that moves in the direction you're looking to go, and an Ayre K5 for the same thing in SS. Your current preamp is better than most, so I wouldn't sell it until you find something you know you'll lik...
Downsizing from VPI HW-19
I've been looking at this one for a while. The only thing I can say is that you shouldn't be having these problems. Either you are not setting the TT up right, or something may be broken. At the very least, I would take it to someone who can check...
Worth Upgrading Marantz 1504 AV Receiver with Power Amp?
" mb1audio - thanks for the listings. A lot of older power amps but I don't think Class A/AB has advanced much in the 21st Century. "I'm not sure I Get your post because you're asking for A/B amps. I've heard all of those amps, and owned some of t...

Listing ID: lis7e6hh Listing ID: lis7d377 Listing ID: lis7e1i7 Listing ID: lis7d550 Listing ID: lis7e86b Here's some current listings here on AG. Any one of them will be a huge upgrade from what you now have. Some of them are a little over budget,...
Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225
jkull,I have an option for you. I would suggest that you call Line Magnetic and run this by them, but that would be a lot of trouble given where they are. I just happen to know the importer for LM. We've been friends for years. If you tell him how...
Audiolab 8200CD software erased can anyone help, self destruction
Try connecting the player to a PC using the usb connection. Restart both pieces. You might get lucky and the drivers/software may auto install. Also check the manual. There may be instructions on how to reset the unit and/or install the software.
Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225
If that's the case, you're doing what you need to do, at least with the amp. The only way you can really tell is to try the components first hand. I would just keep in mind not to be too surprised if your preamp and sources may need to be adjusted...
