How important is the efficiency of a speaker to you?
Gan and Purifi based Class D amps will drive any inefficient speakers and the cost is not excessive. I used a Purifi Class D rated at 300wpc to drive ML Vantage speakers which go as low as 1 ohm at times.
Microphonics, Feedback and Bob Carver
Fascinating to see two technical experts to and fro on an issue even if I have no understanding of the technicalities that they are debating.
Kids, Dogs, and Speakers
It would take a truck to knock over a pair of Duntech Sovereigns.
vibration control - cd player
The best vibration control according to most engineers is springs. You can pay a lot or very little if you buy on Aliexpress.
The $10,000 Question
I'm no help on an integrated but hear good things about Hegel and Rogue integrated. As far as speakers go if you are into classical and tube sound get the highest level Sonus Fabers you can afford possibly used .
Help me pick some new or used speaker cables
+1 for Cardas is you want to take the sting out of the top end.
Best Circa 90's CDP
I have an ageing Exemplar SACD player ( a John Tucker modified Denon DVD3910 ). Yes I have had to replace the laser unit but no great deal and I would back the sound quality against most recent players.
Is My McIntosh C52 Pre-amp The Weak Link?
Another vote for getting an external DAC. If you like the Mac keep it. I personally am not a fan of McIntosh preamps but that is just me as I know many people love them.
Clock vs Streamer advice
@lalitk I tried apps associated with streamers from Elac, Cambridge Audio, Auralic, iFi Zen and Aurender but none of them was as good as the native Qobuz app. I was unable to find any way of using the Qobuz app with any of those streamers except ...
Clock vs Streamer advice
Aurenders sound great but the app is not good if you want to stream classical music. Also you can't at present use Roon with an Aurender if you think you might want to go the Roon way.
Rogue Audio hard to resell, has it fallen out of favor ?
I tried unsuccessfully to sell my Rogue ST90 in Australia and eventually decided to keep it and use it to biamp. The best decision I ever made.
Integrated Curiosity
The very heavy older Krells were far from warm. Pair them with speakers from B&W or Focal and they could be ear splittingly analytic.
Revel Salon2s: Seeking Advice
If you find the Focals a bit too bright a tube pre should take the edge off them. I have not heard the Revels but I went for the very musical Sonus Faber speakers but if you are a fan of earth moving bass the SFs would not be for you. As has been ...
Obvious Epiphany
I've found that the right side bias is often the recording itself and not a hearing imbalance. Many times when playing a new recording I've leapt from my chair and grabbed the Stereophile test CD thinking I have a problem with my left side speaker...
Why do I prefer R2R over Chip based DAC's?
The Orchid looks to be a good option.
