Good compatible carts for RS Labs A-1 tonearm?
I never had a problem mounting threaded carts on my RS-1A. I used a Te Kaitora and a Shelter 901. As long as you can put the screw up from the bottom of the cart, it will work. This rules out wooden Grados and Kontrapunkt/Jubilee, for example, wit...
Jelco Tonearn SA750D
No idea. I've got a modded RB250, but haven't used it in years. I'll post again once I've got the 750D running with RS Labs headshell.
Jelco Tonearn SA750D
I have one but haven't used it much. It is very nicely made. Will be trying it out when my RS Labs headshell arrives in a week or so.Koetsu is another brand Jelco OEM'd for. Also the Artisan arm available with the baby Galibier is built to spec by...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
If you haven't seen it, check out this week's TNT-Audio for Werner Ogier's measurements of resitive and capacitive loading of MM's.
RS-3 owners: Seeking anti-skate help
I have the RS Labs arm, and it has no provision for anti-skating. Just another data point.
Soundsmith retips
Be aware that if the stylus is merely worn out, rather than the cantilever snapped, Peter replaces only the stylus itself. He feels that removing the cantilever might compromise the suspension. I thought about snipping off the cantilever of my 901...
RS A1 Labs rewire
Sounds like the Acrotec would be just as hard to work with as the A-M stuff, given that it's 46 ga vs. 41 ga. At least it's copper, which melts at around 200 F. higher.
RS A1 Labs rewire
Hi Tessera--Did you end up doing this rewire? What wire did you use?
RS A1 Labs rewire
I just rewired mine yesterday with Discovery cable. I left the headshell leads as is, but I had broken the existing wire at the pivot, so needed a rewire. I was afraid this might foul the pivot, but have had no issues yet. And it's sounding pretty...

So I tried the turntableneedles.com stylus for the LTD 750 (it's translucent blue, you may recall). I had some trouble--it sounding very garbled, but I kept removing and reseating it and it finally sounded better. It doesn't sound nearly as refined...

I got two replacement styli for the LTD 750, the elliptical one from turntableneedles (see above) and this one from JICO. Though the page shows a translucent blue stylus carrier and says the manufacturer is Empire, it turns out the carrier is opaq...

Any tips for getting the best out of the EDR9? I've got it on a red-dot armtube of my Morch UP-4--around 6g effective mass, which is appropriate according to the cartridgedb.com. I reduced the VTF to 1.3g, which did seem to help the tizziness I wa...

Oops. Here's the URL turntableneedles.comshows compatibility with "LTD750," which is how it appears on the side of the cart. The drop-down menu shows an elliptical option.
