Lyra Delos or Helicon versus Soundsmith Zephyr My opinion of the Soundsmith vs Lyra differs from Bifwayne.I love the musicality of the Zephyr.I have a Kleos that I will be trading for a higher end Soundsmith. The Kleos is very clean but not right for my system. It is all about detail and not en...

currently own a vpi scout, looking to upgrade I would go with a different manufacturer.I went from a loaded Scoutmaster to Aries 3 with the 3D arm. I stayed with VPI because I already had all the extras: outer ring, center weight, TNT feet, SDS controller.I'm not impressed with the upgrade.No...
Rekokut Rondine 3 vs. Merill AR es1 replica The first big decision is if you need 78rpm. The Rekokut has is; the Merill doesn't.
New VPI 3D Arm I had problems with the 3D Arm and with the VPI response. I'm going with a different manufacturer for my next turntable/arm purchase.
Upgrade Tonearm for VPI Aries 3 I have a new Aries 3 with the 3D arm.I like the table but I'm not a big fan of the arm.I'm sure the engineering & manufacturing is top notch but the design of this uni-pivot arm is not for me. I've owned gimbaled, uni-pivot, and linear trackin...

VPI Aries with non-VPI arm Tdaudio,Thanks for the info.I think I'm jumping the VPI ship. I'm going to trade the whole rig: the new Aries/3D combo with SS Clamp, Outer-ring, and SDS drive.I'll be shopping the audio shows soon.Considering a TW Raven One with a Tri-Planar arm.
VPI Aries with non-VPI arm Bruce,Thanks for the input. The 3D arm differs from the JMW 9T in a few ways:The 3D's counterweight relies on the friction fit of rubber "O" rings to keep it in place. It doesn't have the set screw of the old arm. Minor adjustments are very difficu...
VPI Aries with non-VPI arm I definitely don't like the arm.I'm sure it is a good design & that is well manufactured but I'm not comfortable with the cartridge setup process on this uni-pivot arm. I don't feel that I'm getting the best sound from this system.I have had t...
VPI Aries with non-VPI arm Anyone using a Tri-Planar or Kuzma 4 point on a VPI table?
Stringreen, how is the 3D tonearm doing? Hiendmuse,I don't see a set screw on the 3D.Stringgreen,Do you have the "new" weight for the 3D?Mine came with the SoundSmith device but was still tough to get right. How does the "new" counterweight work? Thanks,MaxH
Stringreen, how is the 3D tonearm doing? The SS CI Device is great for fine tuning once the weight & balance are roughed in. Getting to the roughed in point is difficult. Without the SS CI, set up would be impossible for me. |
