Does JBL get a bad rap? My Brother has a pair of Century 100's that he loves, according to him he "couldnt justify spending $4500 on a pair of Harbeth SL5's" and the sales guys in the store agreed! IMO All you JBL lovers need to move on.... LOL. That's IF you have good e...
JL Labs vs. REL I stand firm that all these new REL'S S, R, series, don't hold a candle to what they made 10-15 years ago...this new shiny piano black finish with smaller parts all around and not nearly the quality or the weight of the older series, this is why I...
Pre + Amplifier Recommendation O that's not true....I listen to very simple acoustic to solo piano and jazz and rock and classical...name a classical musician from old and I have it on vinyl. My point is: That a lot of people will obtain very high quality gear/sound and they do...
anyone tried psvane 12at7 The tube you should be buying for the Atmasphere is the Mullard CV4024 / 12AT7, this is a NOS tube from the UK. Beautiful sweet sounding with great midrange and all around performance. 12AT7's are cheap right now. A pair is around $100.
Best amplifier for magnapan mg12. the Maggies have 86db sensitivity and 4ohm resistance. You could use almost anything except low watts, tube or solid state. These Maggies I suspect will dip down to much lower impedance like 2ohm or .5 ohm! So a amp that is stable down to 2 ohms s...
Ortofon Red on Thorens TP16 tonearm At least upgrade the wiring to the turntable. And replace the power cord as well. This is a must for all old tables anyway. It will prove itself with great results. Lower mass arms are not always better. Cartridge matching would be critical IMO.
Pre + Amplifier Recommendation My experience with a lot of people that listen to low watt tubes with high sensitive speakers is that most don't turn it up very loud. In fact they listen at a very low level a lot of the time. This is not me. And I would love to hear some example...
Earliest "MOST WANTED" gear McIntosh, Since the 1st day I laid eyes and ears on a complete system in 1977, when I was twelve years old!
Can't decide on Integrated Amp - Please Help I think you should check out the LSA brand of Amps(Statement). Also Ayon makes a tube Integrated The Triton earlier gens go for a lot better prices used. Both of these can drive your speakers no problem. LSA is a hybrid Tube/SS design, 150/300 wat...
Pre + Amplifier Recommendation I don't like low power tubes with high sensitivity speakers, the sound is not heavy or visceral enough for me. I find the combo of a tube preamp with solid state power provides the best of both worlds. If you like to listen loud and FEEL the music ...
Recomendation on turntable for less than $1500 They have a Brand new un opened REGA RP6 with Exact Cartridge and the upgraded power supply for $1500 on this site right now! That is a awesome deal! I might buy it myself ROFL. Ask anyone you cant go wrong with a REGA they are solid, great soundi...
Ortofon Red on Thorens TP16 tonearm "This arm isn't good enough to justify spending on the higher priced cartridges"......... I find this is not true If you have upgraded the tables wiring and possibly rewired the TP16 also. This Arm can then be used with the cartridges mentioned an...
Recomendation on turntable for less than $1500 You might find a used REGA RP6 for that price, otherwise go with a REGA RP3 and put the extra savings into a better cartridge for it. I use a RP3 with my McIntosh/Dynaudio system and it is awesome!
JL Labs vs. REL I wouldn't buy a REL because they have really gone DOWNHILL since the Britainia series (B1, B2, B3). Go with the JL sub. |
