Need help selecting a system with Tidal streaming (Maybe MQA) and speakers for around $1k.
You could buy a receiver that has everything built in, and then buy some nice passive book self speakers like those Elac’s. Outlaw Audio makes a new awesome receiver RR2160 $799 with built in DAC and Phono mm/mc, FM/AM... Too many things to list c...
THE LITTLE BLACK BOX, 399.00 ABSOLUTLY NUTS
Signal Cable makes custom cables and so does Morrow Audio I have worked with both companies and they are a great value. Also, Many tone arms have fixed cables that cant be easily changed (unless you rewire the whole arm) The fact that VPI lets you...
Which should I choose?
Im pretty sure the 205 is the Newest Oppo player (took the place of the 105) and it has XLR stereo outputs which would be a better choice with 7 foot long cables. I would go with the Oppo all day, cant touch it for the money and it will take the p...
Sonos Connect directly into MC452?
This would be a horrible injustice to the MC452! The Sonos streams ordinary non HD music as a SOURCE component not as a linestage preamp. Most digital sources are not good volume controls for a amplifier like the MC452. You need a proper volume co...
Lyra Delos - Dirt Build up on the cantilever
My thought is that the shape of the diamond is different on these 2 cartridges. Is it possible that record wearing from being cut by a different diamond caused tiny particles to clog up the hole the cantilever is poking out of? Do you use a long h...
HD FILES which is best hi Bit Rates, or Hi Word lengths?
" ‘many’ does not equal ALL. " ARE you for real? OPPO, Meridian, Aurender, Auralic, Burmester, Cambridge the list goes on and on. I see MQA pushing to become the next popular HI-FI digital medium. Blindjim, You should be used to changes by now, th...
$4.99 vinyl copy of Bruce Horsby The Way It Is
One of the most "underrated" albums. IMO. Your not incorrect snackeyp, this is a real jam! Awesome sounding too ill bet. Matt M
Upgrade Suggestions from Classe CA-200 w/Mirage OMD 28's
What ever AMP you choose it better be a beast! These speakers want power to open up. I am sure you could drive these with a nice big set of mono blocks or a sweet sounding stereo amp, solid state of course. I would look at a McIntosh amp, a MC452 ...
HD FILES which is best hi Bit Rates, or Hi Word lengths?
None of this matters anymore (bit/word lengths, stream rates)  because of MQA! Btw, practically all the major digital hardware companys have jumped on board with MQA, so....not sure why the post? If I was a pure digital person I would learn all ab...
Need Recommendations on a CD Player
Oppo BDP 105 or the new 205! Hopefully you have speakers and electronics that can hang with this source. Highly attractive at that price point (class A rated too by Stereophile). Has XLR or RCA analog outs, and many many other useful connections f...
DYNAUDIO C4 VS B&W 800 D3
The MC452 with the Dynaudio's would be amazing! Dynaudio's are all about power and punch, I remember in there older advertisements they would say "Dynaudio touches you 5,000 times a second! And they have some of the most gorgeous natural sound bec...
Hegel + Raidho
I know that it seems like a good idea to connect some super speakers to a very well reviewed integrated amp. Sometimes these things are like sticking square pegs in round holes (the two just don't fit). I would try some more adequate electronics f...
looking for the best cd transport only, without dac
CEC blah blah blah (good luck with that) Who needs a Transport??? Outdated! I say get a music Streamer from Auralic or Aurender, connect to the cloud and stream Hi Rez. Also incorporate and copy all your discs (I assume u have a lot) to a NAS driv...
Planar ribbon speaker and Tubes Not working Please help!
Tubes + ESL's...Not good! ESL's can dip to 1/2 an ohm! They need pure solid state muscle to drive them correctly...Your PL's don't have it.Matt M
GoldenEar vs Dynaudio vs Nola vs ProAc vs Everything else.
Dynaudio’s are not tube friendly....for the most part. I would look at something else if using tube amps. Speakers in the higher (92) sensitivity rating that work well with lower powered tube amps. Matt M
