A tubes vs. Solid State question. I have had a couple thresholds, Not all are as bad, but honestly I think the Thresholds I had were Bi-polar or Fet, or IGBT type anyway, no mosfet... the newer ones I am not sure, I did have a CODA which is also by developers of original threshold...
A tubes vs. Solid State question. When driven too hard tube amps do not clip much to the ear, but are out of steam, well done solid state which in my opinion will always use Bi-polar or Jfet type transistors can do this just about as well, and still have Slam factor to wake the de...
"Off" vs. "Standby" and tube life Not sure of absolute life span, but tubes in general I would only run preamps for 24 hours before the weekend you will listen and shut off after that on a weekly basis, this will of course probably take 1 year off a tube that would maybe last 10 a...

Any reliability horror stories out there? Truth is that is a CD player and fact is unless you buy a tank from some manufactures like Wadia or someone in that range they are going to have basically a cheap knock off's internally for the most part, I do remember micromega was horrible, but ...
