oppo 93 Well, I received mine, but I'm not going to be able to offer too much useful information, since I haven't hooked it up to my HT system yet -- I'm waiting to get a new receiver or pre/pro, and then set everything up all at once. In the meantime, I'...
good headphone amp/preamp? Haven't heard it, but what about the new Musical Fidelity M1HPA? (http://www.musicalfidelity.com/products/M1-Series/M1HPA/M1HPA.asp)
Macbook to USB to which one? I bought a Centrance DACport a few weeks ago to use as a portable USB DAC + headphone amp for my MacBook. The thing is TINY, but the DAC is really really good. I also now use it in the office to play my computer tracks through my speakers (Rotel s...
looking for an "all in one" unit. I've got a Linn Classik driving a pair of Linn Katans, and it sounds fantastic. I've also got an NAD L40 driving a pair of PSB Image 1B's (used to be in my office - now in my kids' room). For the price, that's a nice combo, and the newer NAD is pr...
New Apple TV -- Anyone planning on it? Kbark - Thanks for your response. Does this mean that you can only use the ATV for 2-channel for all purposes? i.e., is there a way to have sound for movies go to the AVR via HDMI, while music travels over optical to the DAC? Still confused.M
New Apple TV -- Anyone planning on it? Is there a way to hook up the ATV so that video goes through HDMI and audio goes through an external DAC for 2-channel? How do you all handle this? I am about to buy an Arcam AVR600 receiver - will the DACs in the AVR be good enough so that I don'...
im searching for a budget 2 channel setup I second the idea of using an Apple Airport express to stream music from your computer, if that is an option. If you use iTunes, she can use her iPod or iPhone as a remote to control the music selection. This is the best solution because you can a...
Meadowlark Kestrel needs help I've got a tougher request. I need new socks for my Kestrel Hot Rods. Anyone have any ideas how I might be able to find replacements?
New Transport Approach Even a cheap-o Sony Discman can buffer about 40 seconds, I think, of information into memory. I'm not an engineer, but it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to read a whole CD into memory.
Anybody dealt with HigherFi.com? I just got the Katans via UPS from Chris Moon (can't wait to get them hooked up!). The transaction was smooth, honest and quick -- subject to the speakers working properly. Based on what I've seen so far, I'd recommend doing business with Chris.
Floor Standers Vs. Book Shelf Speakers One thing I've always thought was a myth is that there is a substantial size benefit to "bookshelf" speakers. If you put them on stands, they take up just as much usable room as most reasonably sized floorstanders. (Obviously, if you actually put ...
Anybody dealt with HigherFi.com? I hope he's legit -- I just ordered a pair of Linn Katans from him by credit card. I'm expecting them next week. I'll post the results, good or bad.
Important Info for Meadowlark Owners I've got Kestrel Hot Rods, too, and defintely never had a problem with the highs. It almost sounds like you forgot to hook up the tweeter terminals or lost a connection. If you are not bi-wiring, the best configuration is to run the amp to the woo...
Speakers with Rotel amp cornfedboy: you, sir, are an ass. if you don't like rotel amps, then why are you responding to an e-mail soliciting advice about what speakers to use with them? get a life. Losh: I agree about the Vandersteens. You should also check out meadowlark...
Best Small Office Speakers Thanks for all of the advice. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to audition all of the recommendations. I just bought a pair of PSB Image 1Bs. So far, they sound great right out of the box, but it will be a while before I can form a truly mean... |
