Stuck point!
Consider this: a small fan in the room that moves back and forth. After a few minutes, it seems colder in the room. In the case of amplifiers, you may notice...but this would likely be after hours of listening. Also depends how sensitive you are to...
Moon 280D best computer setup
Yes! Jriver for the win. Enable SoX and load file into memory in the settings for best sound quality. With regards to the fan noise from the computer, you can set cooling to passive instead of active under power options. If that doesn't work, you c...

In-ceiling speakers?A stereo system in a bedroom or office would be better.
ROOM DAMPING - CHOOSING THE CORRECT SUPPLIERS AND MATERIALS
What you may need is acoustic panels on the walls and a nice carpet or rug in the room. Along with that, identify hard surfaces and other areas where reflections are common. A set up that emulates near-field listening is ideal. You want to be clos...
What is wrong with my system?
It's probably the amplifier that doesn't pair well with your speakers. But I don't know. When you say there is very little or no bass, what are you playing on the system? There are many styles of bass with unique attack, decay, and textural resolve....
Audible illusions Slow customer service
Reminds me of my very first job as a computer/server/tablet technician. Warehouse setting. The Floor Manager - "UNITS ON HOLD!!!" The logistics at Audible Illusions might be terrible. If you want a quick response, tell them their logistics needs i...

Most comfortable headphones
OP,For that money, Audio Technica makes some mean Bluetooth headphones. If your friend doesn’t have/doesn’t want an amp/cd player/DAC etc. and listens to music with a smartphone/laptop, then Bluetooth would be the best option.Another option could ...
Could someone help figure out a setup?
For budget speakers - M-Audio and PreSonus are good brands. Edifier also makes some fairly decent speakers at reasonable prices. As you like bass, some of these have a bass/treble knob on the back. Look for one with AUX (3.5mm) in/out or RCA (if y...
New cables - To judge now or after burn in period?
I don’t believe in cable burn in. Not going to debate anyone who believes it.I said 600 hours because it was 3 times what others were saying (just to be safe). But really, I’m joking about it.It was a long time ago. Unknown branded RCAs. Haven’t h...
New cables - To judge now or after burn in period?
I think 600 hours total with the most power-hungry gear would do the trick. Sorry about your electricity bill.
How are most audiophiles going from streamers to DACS
When in doubt, use the theoretically superior cable. If you can’t, use the connections that your gear has. Distance between components and speakers (cable) should be as short as possible. (low resistance).
