Admiral Television? Looking forward to hearing about anything Todd's got to say.Marty
Which Primaluna amp ? BTW, I've had PL mono amps for several years. Reliable, great sounding, great fun w/ plug 'n' play tube rolling.Marty
Which Primaluna amp ? I'll second Rich on Kevin Deal. He's a PL dealer (I believe that he was, and may still be, the PL importer) so he'll be wearing a sales guy's hat. Nevertheless, - IME - Kevin's a pretty straight shooter and a good guy.Marty
Admiral Television? Hodu,I just fired up Showbiz Kids and I definitely see your point. I always assumed that that was Larry Carlton on guitar. Oddly enough, Carlton was another name that came up when I played this "whodunnit" game with my instructor.I'll keep workin'...
Admiral Television? I agree that that link makes Derringer feel like the main suspect.
Admiral Television? No answer on the e-mail yet, but my guitar teacher had an interesting guess after I played a "70's Scenario" YouTube video for him. He agreed that it didn't sound like Todd and he also thought that both Derringer or Fripp were unlikely. He couldn'...

Intoxicating music Phillip Glass - North Star (Etoile Polaire)Listen loud and this music seems to have a neurological effect - no chemicals required.Marty
What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's? Donjr.Billy, Don't Be A Hero was a #1 hit for Paper Lace in the UK. The US hit was by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods. I don't believe that Paper Lace ever reached the top 40 with that song in the US.Marty
Admiral Television? Loomis,I just took your suggestion and put the question to liveatdarylshouse.comI'll report back if/when I hear from them.BTW, Todd's pretty nimble when he wants to be, but I agree that some of the War Babies cuts feature a showier lead guitar sty...
Admiral Television? Hodu:I'm pretty sure that Television was gigging around NYC as early as 1973 (a year before War Babies), even though their first record came out, IIRC, a few years later. That might make the Television reference even more plausible, that band was ...
Admiral Television? Lowrider - that didn't occur to me. It's possible that all the flashy stuff is Rundgren and Cerniglia (unfamiliar to me) and that the Admiral Television was a reference to guitar effects. It's also possible that Verlaine (or possibly Richard Lloyd)...
Admiral Television? I assumed that the appliance company was the basis for the mystery player's stage name. I was wondering if anyone knew which guitarist used that name. Some of the playing is really fashion forward for the day (the track "70's Scenario" is one exam...
Is there an amp that does 2-channel and all this? MOT wrote:I have a problem with stereo purchases. :-)Who here doesn't?MartyPS At least you made an interesting one!
4 Velodyne HGS-15's or 2 Velodyne HGS-18's? If you're using Audyssey (or similar DRC) to smooth FR in the bass, then a pair of 18s probably makes more sense. I believe that you'll have pretty similar clean SPL capability all the way down well below 20hz from either set-up, and 2 giant boys ... |
