Kevin,I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. As to this thread, I suggest that you do your best to take it in perspective. Per my earlier post, enough transactions probably statistically guarantees some dissatisfied customers. I'd also argue th...
How much do you have to spend, to get a good Sub?
SVS 12 " sealed subs start around $650. They have a great rep and are outstanding performers on the test bench. The 12" Rythmiks are about $100 more (last I looked), also test very well, and perform beautifully in my own system. The caveat with sub...
Anybody listen to Ohm Walsh speaker w/digital amp?
Finsup,Sorry this reply is 2 years late, but I must have missed this thread on its last go round.I'm of two minds on that question. The living room looks great and the gear makes a fashion statement that complements it. When used, the system sound...
Why does most new music suck?
I like Bongo's advice. No one will ever get the satisfaction of saying "I told you so!" when the world comes to an end. (Okay, maybe in their next life.)As to civility, the good news is that people here are passionate about music (among other thin...
Kevin gets the
Over the last ten years I've purchased a ton of tubes, Cary Cd, Prima Luna Monos, SF Cremonas, and a bunch of other stuff from Kevin. He's never been less than 100% straight up with me. I guess that over enough time and enough transactions things ...
New HT Receiver
My rule of thumb is to spring for Audyssey xt 32 pro. It's really outstanding room correction/subwoofer integration software. XT 32 is also only found in upper end models, so you get all the other bells n whistles as well as reasonably robust powe...
Where do I start with... "artist"?
Richard. "Two Letter Words" is a double live cd (might be available only at his website) that is utterly ridiculous.....in the best possible way.If Richard & Linda starts at "Shoot Out The Lights", it may end there, too. They did a lot of grea...
Band's you have seen on their first U.S. tour
Genesis in November, 1971, Mountain in 1969, and Cheryl Crow opening for John Hiatt ca 1992 are three that come quickly to mind. I believe that these were first US tours in all cases, but I'm not 100% certain.
Need advice on building an A/V system
With $3k, I'd be inclined to budget about a third each for AVR, 5 speakers, and a subwoofer (or two). One such combo:A pair of sealed SVS 10 inch subsA Marantz or Integra AVR equipped with Audyssey xt 32 pro5 Gallo A'Diva speakersI'd add a Sony Blu...
Why does most new music suck?
All in perspective, grasshopper! For some people, Zep, The Beatles, The Who, etc. are just examples of white folk butchering the music of Chuck Berry, et al. Then there are the folks that see Chuck Berry as an abomination of the blues. Etc. Etc.I d...
Visualize the music....
Funny you posted this. A good friend of mine who is a composer sent it to me a few days ago. Very cool stuff.
Adding sub question
I've used an NHT x-2 in the manner that Kal suggests with an Veolynse SMS-1 for sub EQ and integration. The good news is that both x-2 and SMS-1 are reasonably priced (if you can find an x-2) and work very, very well, but ....This is a giant PITA ...
Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I believe that the Theta prepros will allow this, but......If you buy a current model prepro, there's a good chance you'll get Audyssey (or similar) for room correction and digital bass management. IME, using subs with Audyssey enabled provides am...

Sub best at high crossover?
If you're asking what would explain your observation:Your sub is providing smoother response up to 200hz than your mains are. IME, that will usually be the case for a well set-up subwoofer. No mystery thereMarty
