Do you like Mexican music??
There's lots of great Mexican music.  There's also lots of not so great Mexican music.  Much like most places, Mexico has a rich tradition of music, not all of which is for every taste.  Hey, I dig mariachi music (and yes, I'm aware that some clai...
"Epic" compositions worth giving a spin
"Singring and the Glass Guitar"is another interesting one from Utopia.
"Cracked Rear View"
I love so many of John Hiatt's lyrics. This one IMO captures modern cynicism with particular wit and insight:Still you argue for your options, and you angle for your case, like you wouldn't know a burning bush,if it blew up in your face. - Through Yo...
"Cracked Rear View"
Maybe just a nod to Hiatt from Hootie.  Hiatt did something similar to The Stones and Buddy Holly in the lyrics for Slow Turning.
Concert Experience for $5k?
Start with a pair of quality 15" subwoofers.  Cross them high enough (+/- 60 Hz or higher) to ensure that kick drum fundamentals are directed that way.  Maybe goose the subs' output to a little higher than flat.  Add a pair of the horns of your ch...

Subwoofer SVS SB13Ultra vs JL Fathom F110V2
Ricred,I'm just curious as to the size of your space.  From the test data that I've seen, a pair of Ultras offers enormous clean output capability.  Your observation that the JL does better on that front (and, to be clear, Im not contesting that o...
What used speaker would you buy with $20,000-$35,000 and why?
Ctsooner,That's a very tough question to answer. My understanding is that the 101 is power hungry and a tough load.  MBL says that MBL amplification is uniquely well suited to the speakers' demands.  (What else would you expect them to say, they'r...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Not all omnis are created equal, but "better" and "worse" is always going to be in the ear of the beholder.Omnidirectional response can be achieved in several different ways, each of which has its own particular "flavor", heard varyingly as pluses...
What used speaker would you buy with $20,000-$35,000 and why?
Since hookers and coke evidently wasn't the right answer,I'll add that a pair of MBL 101e are listed here at $20k.  They have certain strengths that are IMO just about SOTA, but they are omnis (a plus for some listeners, an issue for others) and t...
The Beach Boys
Your most recent post just popped up.  It's different in tone than some of previous posts.  Please ignore my previous post as you've already addressed it.  I think I get your point, now, but maybe we just hear this particular music differently.  "...

213Unless you are arguing that we must bear the responsibility for the moral consequences for all of our consumption decisions and their ethical implicarions, you are mistaken.   Accepting the fruit of the abuse isn't endorsing the abuse.BTW, It I...
The Beach Boys
No one is embracing abuse.  That is different entirely from embracing the art produced by a drug abuser. This discussion has next to nothing to do with money. Some folks here are more empathetic than scornful.

Bdp,"Gravity's Rainbow" is a great, great novel IMO, but be advised...It's +/- 1200 pages long and can be a tough slog if you aren't familiar with Pynchon's MO.  It might be a bit akin to reading "Finnegan's Wake" as your first shot at James Joyce...
Your picks of mediocre or lousy vocals with great musicians!
Sorry Bdp, Right you are. However, my point was not that Bach composed on harpsichord, but that he didn't have a piano (as did Mozart) available.  That instrument's arrival changed technology in a way that demanded IMO new avenues of expression.  M...
