Aquariums and Audio Equipment
Weird, in various setups I have never had a problem with vibrations affecting the health of the fish.Always thought I would but never did.Jadem6- yea, finally found a hobby I could spend more on then fish. On the plus side audio gear usually does ...
Aquariums and Audio Equipment
I think there are worse ideas. Depending on the tank setup, if you use lids ect., any 18" away should not be affected by salt creep. Dedicated electrical lines solve the electrical problems. The sound stage would not be worse than having a large T...
OK to plug sub into a surge supressor......
Mark, in my experance a dedicated line improved matters better than any power conditinor I have used. The general accounts I have read support this also.Marty
Problem with Home Theater Volume
Darryl- I missed you post. Currently the system is a 3.2 setup with the rears on order. All the channels act in this fashion. The center is 1-2db below the mains...The tv feed is basically the same, louder in 2ch playback with severe drop in surro...
Problem with Home Theater Volume
I threw in the vegas and the vegas play way louder. I don't know the sensitivity of the vega's or the impendence of the Heron-i's so it's hard to tell what is happening.Marty
Problem with Home Theater Volume
I was looking at peak volume levels. All numbers listed were peaks.Multiple problems are not fun to deal with. I do have a second set of speakers to play with, good old Cerwin Vegas...ThanksMarty
Problem with Home Theater Volume
One interesting thing learned, with the rear speakers turned off the processor seems to cut the output for all channels by 5db's. I flip the settings and can hear a difference.Reset all settings to factory defaults, with rears on(I physically do n...
Problem with Home Theater Volume
Thanks for the input. The weird part is when I got the gear, I could easily over drive the speakers/myself. Things got very loud. Electronics don't usually degrade, which is the hard part. Watching the same movies, same room, same gear, using a sp...

Have any experience with Richard Gray power stuff?
I have the little 400 unit. It really does help the black levels on my Toshiba 40" RPTV, kinda weird.. For audio purposes I am really not sure. I think is your equipment has smaller power supplies, the better the performance gain might be. I have ...
Checking the quality of your AC
Farther than an analog multimeter, short of an oscilloscope(those are expensive are they not?).The premise to the question was a high end sales rep answers to my questions. I was basically asking about some quirks/lockups and his answer was noise ...

240v Any reason not to use?
105db is just to see what the system can do, not normal listening levels. I just thought the system would go louder.I was just wondering if all else is equal, why not use 240v.ThanksMarty
240v Any reason not to use?
It can't be the electronics, unless they are functioning way out of their parameters. I just seem to be needing to turn the volume up way more than I thought I would need to. This is rather unscientific, but the system "maxs out" i.e. the woofers ...
