help choosing cable pc to dac. Perhaps you can use a usb to Spdif converter and run a single length of RCA. I used the Musical Fidelity V-Link to this end a while back. This way you still get USB out, which can be a benefit, and run a good signal through the lone RCA.

Outside the box That system strikes me as unexpected and crazy! Would love to hear it. Perhaps a roving audiogon cocktail listening party event ought to be created! If only we all lived in the same city! Be be careful with those SPL's... You don't want to lose...
Best Sounding Classic Rock Cd's Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms.may not fit the classical definition of classic rock, but close enough. Money For Nothing is quite a track to hear on a great system. The entire album is very well recorded and mastered.
Wilson Audio Sophia 2 or Goldenear Triton 1 I'm using an Audio Research VT100mkII & LS25mkI for the Sophia 2's. They drive them well, with plenty of great definition bass, but I think a bit more power would not be a bad thing. I do need to turn the volume up quite a bit (3 o'clock on ...
Wilson Audio Sophia 2 or Goldenear Triton 1 I just read a little on the goldenear, to see what it is all about. It seems it has a strong relationship with Definitive Technology's Mythos series. If this is the case, I will strengthen my previous comment and say, get the Wilson, hands down...
Wilson Audio Sophia 2 or Goldenear Triton 1 Just got my first Wilsons, the Sophia 2. They are phenomenal. I just got the placement in my room dialed in this weekend. I've been playing jazz, rock, blues, classical, you name it, and the sound is just wonderful. I can't speak about Tritons...

DAC recommendation in the $1k range I have a PS audio perfect wave DAC mk II with bridge mk II. If you can get that product at your budget or even close to your budget, I would highly recommend it! While it does not contain the DSD option, it is a very high performing DAC. The...
I have an uber awesome amp, why buy a speaker with a built in woofer sub-woofer amp Most people have enough application for their main speakers, and usually don't have an extra amplifier to drive a sub. So that's one reason. The other reason is, by integrating an amplifier, The manufacturer can control The final product bett...
Toslink VS coax VS other forms of Digital transfer I love Sonos, but not for HiFi. I have a couple of Sonos products in my home and I use them for in-ceiling speakers, outdoor, and other locations where music is just for background. As for streaming Tidal to a DAC, I recommend doing that with a de...
Help with speaker placement in my real life room Tboooe, very interesting. I was debating the theory of the perfect equilateral triangle as a starting point, versus the potential advantages of being far further from the side walls, as in the Cardas method. I can go full equilateral, but my sp...
