Mesh network versus a simple Wi-Fi extender
Sorry meant to say one component like a streamer.
Mesh network versus a simple Wi-Fi extender
@soix.      I use a netgear extender for a pretty good hi rez headphone system.  I have for comparison purposes connected my streamer directly to my modem.  In doing so I hear no difference in SQ from the 100ft run in a 2 story house using the ex...
Mesh network versus a simple Wi-Fi extender
Been using a Netgear extender for years. Never had  problems/dropouts. Excellant SQ.  Extender runs from Modem at one end of the house, up one floor to the opposite side of the house to my streamer. Supra ethernet both sides. Over 100 ft. distance...
Cable brands that work well with Cardas?
@decooney  Interesting factoid:-)  I didn't recall interconnect rev1 was the crimped version.  I think I remember the clear speaker wires making that change about that time, but wow that's been quite a while ago.  How time flies.
Cable brands that work well with Cardas?
Have both orig. and rev 1.  Unless you listen side by side you'll never hear the difference and even if you do probably still won't.
A question about headphones
Hate to already be recommending other headphones but if you like bass and early rock and roll pair up some Audeze lcd2 classic's with your Lyr2.  I can tell you from personal experience you'll be very, very happy.  Also go to headfi for a wealth o...
I keep being reminded of how much power cords mater
Use Clear Beyond on both my int. amp and phono preamp.  For that matter use Cardas of one grade or another for speaker and interconnects, digital spdif, etc.so you might say I'm a Cardas guy.  But no question each time I go to the next level with ...
I Recapped my Conrad Johnson PFR. Wow! Some of the best $$$ I've spent
Whoops, Bill is at Music Technologies?
I Recapped my Conrad Johnson PFR. Wow! Some of the best $$$ I've spent
@russellrcncom   Conrad Johnson will update any of their older equipment.  Also Bill Thalman at Music Direct who used to be one of their engineers is also an excellant source and would probably be a little cheaper.
OPPO 105 VS Schiit Gungnir
Just so happens I own the Ares II also.  At first I liked it more than the Gumby.  Then I changed things around a little bit and now I'm using it in a headphone system with a Schiit HP amp and liking the Gumby a little bit more.  Bottom line' they...
Headphone amp and dac advice needed
Take a look at the Schiit offerings.  Both their headphone amps and DAC's are hard to beat for the price.
Node 2i what is better at that price, just need the streamer section?
A used Node 2 is hard to beat as a steamer for the price and versatility.  Still using mine in a 3rd system and after many years no problems whatsoever.
OPPO 105 VS Schiit Gungnir
I own both.  No comparrison the Gumby is much better.  Sorry but disagree with using the 105 to stream or serve.  Get a used Node 2 for streaming into the Gumby.  Again so much better than streaming with the 105.  Plus you have access to more stre...
Pass labs upgrade path
@jjss49 Perhaps if I would have used the more "modern" CJ preamps like the ET series I would have a different opinion of how they sound with Pass amps.  The closest I got was the CT5 and Premier 16.  The PR16 with Pass I felt was too warm and whil...
Pass labs upgrade path
I think you'll get the biggest overall improvement going to the .8 series amps.  If you want to change preamps and want to consider tubes that's a totally different approach.  Some like it better.  I didn't.  In the case of Pass, their amps and pr...
