Got BAT VK-60 ...now what?
you know, many audiofreaks dream about all-BAT system like myself for example :)
My system has just received the ultimate insult
If you're really getting insulted everytime you have to break up.If you will consider girlfriend and your audio as two separate issues that aren't compatible and should be treated separately absolutely without paying attention on how they "interac...
What is your upgrade philosophy?
I do prefere to upgrade a few components at the same time. For the past year I've had a bunch upgrades with analogue end, speakers and an amplification. Usually I do not pay too much of my attention on wires and buy them for the minimal match first.
Voltage stabilizer for big amps??
Sean: Forgive me a curious fool is it a hospital unit?
I Need an Upgrade Path...Help Please
First, I would upgrade Rega with CAL Ikon or CAL separate components. Also Micromega 3 can get you much close to the music. Then I would change Monster M1 for AQ Midnight or JPS Ultraconductor. If the enthusiasm continues, add an entry-level analogu...
Thoughts on Placette Preamps?
I realy forgot about BAT -- they have either balanced or SE outputs in their regular configuration. Placette has also balanced out versions and I would recommend to stay with one output device either balanced or SE. In order to take the most advan...
Should Speakers come first in a gradual upgrade?
I wouldn't change anything for now except bringing in $1000 worth of analogue setup (something like VPI HW19 Junior with arm/cartridge)Believe me it will bring more bass, more detailed highs and cheep-fast-growing analogue musical collection!
Thoughts on Placette Preamps?
I'm not sure how sensitive VK75 is but its input impedance is great to use it with passive preamp like Placette. On your digital end make sure that it can throw some sufficient voltage ~3V with preferably no DC component. Having these conditions m...
Is there any "volume attenuater"
yeah you just need a passive preamp. you can visit www.marchandelec.com and get either kit or assembled one in any configuration you want to order: i.e. number of inputs/outputs, stereo, mono, or dual-mono etc...If you've some bucks to spend extra...
Can Dynaudio 1.3mk2 be driven well by tube gear?
I have a Totem Forest loudspeakers which have Dynaudio drivers. I drive them with VTL Deluxe 100 monos (110W/ch in tetrode mode). It sounds much more open and better than previously driven by Bryston 3b-st (125W/ch)
SME V tonearm versus Rega tonearms on Michell Orbe
Believe it or not that's it's OK to compare these arms. I believe that analogue setup starts from CARTRIDGE first and ends with phono. The downsides of Rega arms are tonarm and phono wires, somewhat suspension and counterweight. By modifying chee...
A reasonable integrated w/ remote - possibly tube?
My first choice would be VTL IT-85.Then if there is not enough power I would go for Rogue Tempest. You can try hybrid Pathos(has MOSFETs in the output stage)
Talon Khorus with no soundstage?
...and now I've got the idea! Thanks to Garys. I've read the article about "entertaining break-in Khorus advanture" and understood that the dealer that showed me that set-up couldn't do the same since He lives in the building and couldn't put them ...
Three output versions of Benz ACE cartridge...
It's a good question and probably most of the surfers here will strongly advice you to take the lowest output version. On my opinion if you will take the lowest version you'll be forced to use the highest gain of your phono. The highest gain settin...
Bridge or bi-amp? Which should I do?
...meaning different amps for each speaker? If your speakers have 2 or more pairs of binding posts this is a perfect case to biamp your speakers. On wonder to all other audiophiles I am not familiar with B&W line of speakers.
